Fatigue, opiate withdrawal and supplements

Hi,

I'm in the process of going through withdrawal from methadone.  I decided I just don't want to take pills anymore.  It's only my second day and my worst symptom is fatigue and almost sort of a restless leg syndrome type of thing, especially at night.  I have a severe lack of motivation and my legs feel like jello.  I was reading an older post where someone had said a natural supplement that produces L-Dopa would help with the fatigue. Apparently, the fatigue is from your body's diminished ability to produce it by itself because of the drug.  My question is, if I take this supplement will it also block my body from ever producing it naturally again?

Just do an internet search for Larry's Recipe. The difference between Thomas Recipe and Larry's is that Thomas's uses benzos like Vslium or Xanax to get thru the first 4 dats. Larry's does not. But you can take into consideration the vitamins used in both. I'm sorry I believe it is Thomas recipe that explains L-tyrosine.

I understand perfectly what you are saying!  Hang in there and do anything you can to push your way through.  The hard part may be yet to come but with the right mindset you can work your way through...let me know if you ever want to talk!  Good luck!

Thank you to everyone.  Yes, I can say with sincerity, and with feeling that this totally *****.  It's strange though because mentally I feel great about stopping and know this is the right thing to do, yet it's my body that's telling me otherwise.  Yet, in no way do I want to use methadone again.  So far anyway.  I've read that the mental cravings after the worst of the withdrawal has passed, is harder to deal with :(

There is the Thomas recipe posted at the bottom of the page if you want to see what he recommended regarding the amino acid protocol.  Some people swear by it and I think it does help, but regardless wd'ing is just not fun !

No, you do not permanently disrupt your brain chemistry by taking supplements.  However, you may temporarily alter the balance.  I just had this discussion with someone else on here that when you take a single supplement  / amino acid it does throw off the chemical balance and can create side effects.
For me, and I am withdrawing off of fentanyl, I have found that the best help has been low dose Tyrosine.  I only take I capsule (500 mg) along with a packet of a Emergen c and it seems to give me a small amount of energy to get a few things done.  In the eves I take a bunch more including Lysine, theanine, arginine , and a few other supplements.  My diet is not the greatest and I try to do what I can to get in some of the building blocks for healing.

Thank you so much for responding.  I'm also new to this website.  Where would I find Larry's recipe?

Sorry about hitting post too soon. Not sure which vitamin you are referring too. But here are some that may help:

Magnesium for RLS aches take morning

Potassium for RLS take 1-2 times per day

Vit B complex for mood take ironing and evening

Valerian root for restlessness anxiety muscle relaxant sleep take at night when not going to drive

Melatonin 1-2 mg at night for sleep

Now the one I think you are talking about you shouldn't start taking till day 5 ish. It is L-tyrosine 500 mg. you take 1000 - no more than 4000 mg with 100mg Vit B6 first thing in morning on empty stomach to jump start energy for the day. Takes about 30 mins to kick in. DO NOT take while having bad w/d's because it will counteract Imodium and anything else taking (above) to sleep.

Read Larry's recipe and it explains it much better. Good luck. You are getting through the worst of it.
