I can't believe your doc would just stop prescribing without even talking to you about it first. He's right; that is a long time to be on benzos but you really should have been tapered.
Why did you stop taking the Cymbalta? It's an antidepressant and may help. Anxiety and depression go hand in hand - kind of the chicken/egg phenomenon - which causes which?
If I were you, I would go to a psychiatrist and explain your situation and have him/her help you get on the right meds to help with your panic/anxiety/depression. They may not give benzos either but you can learn to live without them.
You're in the right place coming here. Everyone is really helpful and supportive. Hang in there. It will get beter.

I have nothing except the lunesta and ambien .  I don't have any of that ativan.  He only gave me 20 of them.  I used to get 90 a month about 5 years ago and since then I have had 60 a month until he totally stopped them.

Here I go again,  I don't feel like typing everything.  I am 55 years old.  Mother of 7 grandmother of 6.  I am married and I work and take care of my husband and my home.
I started having severe panic attacks 35 years ago.  I have been on some type of meds for it every since.  I was told when I was 33 years old that I might have to be on it the rest of my life.  I said okay, if that's what I have to do.  I don't use alcohol or do any other drugs..never have.  I use my xanax or klonpin to sleep, and for my appetite.  It has been that way for the last 30 plus years.  In February I called my prescription in and the pharmacist called my back and said your doctor said no.  I asked what he meant and he said he didn't know why and to call my doctor.  I did and he said just that blunt, It's time for you to come off your nerve pills and go to something a little more long lasting.  I said okay..He wanted me to take symbalta.  I asked him why was he changing my medicine.  He said that I had been on them too long.  Now I cant sleep with this new drug and I had to go to emergency room twice because of how anxious I am feeling and my not sleeping.  The doctor at the ER on both occasions told me what was going on was that I was having addiction, but also said that my doctor  (he has been so for the past 11 years) should not have just cut me off.  I told them he said that I didn't need to take them anymore.  The ER doctor did not agree and wrote me a prescription  (twice) for xanax but at a higher dose.  I was afraid to take them so I went back to the hospital and asked if he could lower it to what I usually take.  He did.  My doctor heard about my ER visit and said well let me try you on ativan and sleeping pills..which I did not have to take before.  I am so mixed up.  They are giving me ambien, lunesta and this smybolta.  I don't need all of these , my klonopin or xanax did me just fine.  The addiction I was told by ER doctor was not my fault however my Doctor continued to give them to me after my other doctor passed away here in Colorado.  The only question that he would say over the last 11 years is how are you doing with your xanax intake.  I tell him I am still taking them everyday.  He would say okay but you need to try and take less.  I say okay. and he writes my prescription. I don't want to see another doctor.  I don't like moving around.  Last doctor was 13 years.  Somebody help me.  I don't know what to do with myself..I stopped taking the sleeping meds and the smybalta after I read what it does.  Lunesta and ambien does not make me sleep.  I hope this explains why I am on this site.  Looking for help.

Thank you
