PLZ HELP.....

I am feeling very desperate. I have been taking pain meds for YEARS and can't seem to quit/taper. I HATE the severe anxiety the most. I took suboxone for several months in hopes to wean down on that rather than my DOC but for me I didn't like it caused headaches and is in itself a very strong narc w/ a crazy long 1/2 life...So here I am I have less than 100 ultram i average about 16/day....I'm scared I will have a seizure @ this dose but my rational thoughts are second to my addiction. My question is I know if I was not so mentally addicted the W/D wouldn't be as bad.I know I need to but yet I dont want to....did anyone else struggle w/this? I have made lists of reasons to quit....I want to want this enough to do it.

AS TM said you need to taper down .At 16 a  day its not going to give you a long time  taper with a 100 pills but it will help  you taper farther down .It will make it eiser when you stop .If you have been taking 16 a day you should be able to start taper down at like 12 to start. Just reduse as much as you can until you are out . I would also talk to your doctor tell them whats going on and how they can help..hang in there .

You have got to want to quit to succeed. If your not ready you will fail every time. You need to find a reason to want to quit. Do you have kids? A Spouse? Think about your health. One thing I see with your post is that you are very honest. You said straight up you need to quit but you don't want to. You sound like a very strong person. I know if you really wanted to quit you will be able to do it.

Maybe think of it this way maybe you can want to quit before something bad happens. Most people quit because something drastic happens. Like jail, od , somebody getting hurt or sometihng worse. That enough is a reason to want to quit because they don't want to experience the drastic experience again.

Good Luck

I struggled with ultram for a long, long time.  I even had seizures while taking it and still didn't quit!  It gets a strong hold on people!  I have been off of it for 3 months, and I feel so good now.  It has an antidepressant in it too, so it's double hard to quit.

It needs to be tapered.  Could you talk with a doctor and get a taper plan so you can do this right???
