Fentynal & oxycoden WD

Hi, I am new here, but I have been reading the forums a ton this past week. Here is a little about me. This past march I was diagnosed with tongue cancer. Doc did biopsy, put me on Liquid Oxycoden. Well, I had surgery April, just finished up radiation 3 weeks ago. I have been on the Oxycoden for 5 1/2 months. 5 mg every 4 to 6 hours, but I used it every 2 hours. They also put me on fentynal 50 patches 2 months ago, I chaned them every 3 days. Well, this past Monday, I quit all cold turkey. Threw it all in garbage. Well the withdrawals have been terrible. This has been the worst week. Well, I mean 5 days. I have some questions, if you guys dont mind. How long will this all last? I am eating some now, Friday. I have not thrown up since wednesday. Took immodium today, and this also helped. But the chills I have, I cannot sleep... I get dizzy and light headed some. Plus I noticed I lost a lot of weight, will this all come back???? I will never use this crap again. No matter the pain, no more....... thank you all

Oh man you have been to hell and back.  One of my hubby's surgery last year was the most painful one...lobe removed because of lung cancer.  The radiation and chemo almost killed him.  You may have started your WD a bit early....though I couldn't say for sure.  Hubby just started tapering when I did my CT...doctor said CT wouldn't be safe for him (because of heart surgeries).  He is down to the 25 mcg Fentanyl Patch and is now off the oxy.  Next month he is switching to oral Opana and then they will taper him off of that.

Please be careful, rest, eat or drink your nutrients and, above all, an occasional prayer for strength would not go amiss.

Take care of yourself please

i am new here and am trying to find some advice...but reading this is making me depressed. While i am happy for you and your progress, I have been taking Methadone for ten years...and I am SICK OF IT. but when i read about you stilll having no sleep after 10 days and your use was fairly short and small...i just want to say the heck with it. I only take 10mg a day. I have weaned myself down from 80mg per day 3 years ago,..but i just can't seem to stop completely. I have no insurance, no help, no rehab opportunities. Is anyone having success with suboxone? can someone direct me to appropriate place for help advice? Good luck to you Stuckleyr and hang in there!

P.S.  If you can manage it follow Lulu's instructions especially the dietary.  She is an incredibly savvy woman with excellent ideas.  She's advised me on a couple of things and has been spot on.  I'm hoping you are getting a little sleep tonight.  You should be able to start getting some 2-4 hour stretches of sleep now...and that will improve.

I'm SO sorry I was gone the last week sick because my hubby was on Fentanyl (ending up on 100 mg) and oxycodone 30 mg 5 times a day since last July.  Now mind you....he'd had 3 major surgeries so he needed them.  He had a friend at work who went CT on those Fentanyl Patches and said it was the worst he'd ever felt in his life for a good 2 weeks.

My hubby's doctor flat out told him in no way shape or form should be CT the patches.  He is now off the oxycodone completely and is down to 25 Fentanyl.  In a month or so they'll switch him to oral Opana and then wean him off of that.

In his case this is a necessity because CT could kill him....in your case you'll just feel like your dying.  But our friend survived and you will too.  Just hang in there....relief is coming.  I'm hoping that tonight you'll start getting a little sleep even if just a few hours.  It is also really important that at this point to make sure you start getting something good and healthy in your tummy and to stay as hydrated as possible.

If we go off of what our friend said you are over the halfway mark and that each day now should show a little improvement.  You can do it!!  I know you can!  Just keep busy, watch comedies (laughter really does help), have sex (it actually helps!), do some stretches, take a walk.  Anything that will distract you from that little voice in your head!

I'll be praying for you.

7 days is awesome! You are doing this! Congratulations, and keep hanging in there. You should slowly start feeling better. At this point, the more you can do, the better you will feel. I know sleep is an issue still, as well as fatigue. Taking Epsom Salt baths, Melatonin, mild exercise in the fresh air will help. You should be very proud of what you have accomplished thus far.  Stay strong and focused.  Wishing you the best!

Yes, it is all normal.  Time and patience is the name of the game.  I know it's hard but it is so worth it in the end.  Your body has been through hell and back so you can't just expect it to miraculously recover.  It will though, as long as you get good nutrition.  I know you want to gain some weight back but beware of the Mcdonald's shakes as they are empty calories without any real nutrition.  Stick to as much real food as possible.  Especially with your cancer you need to stay away from anything that is processed or containing hormones (dairy and meat especially)  Look for non-medicated hormone free meat, it is a little more expensive but your body and well-being is worth it.
Most importantly, be gentle with yourself.  You need to give yourself plenty of time and love to heal.
You are doing great!

And yes you are absolutely right.... insomnia is one of the worst withdrawl  symptoms in my opinion. I also hate the hot and cold at  the same time flu like part. And the feeling in the legs that reminds me of RLS and you just wanna punch them... I admit I have when I was sick. I had to get on Methadone, Heroin user, and I luckily don't hurt but I'm always sleeping so we are in opposite shoes... You're in a worse predicament I must say though. Just keep it together... one minute at a time.

And did they get rid of the cancer or is there a risk of it coming back? I will keep you in my thoughts.... I usually don't return to posts but you stuck with me.... hahahhaah Stuckleyr.... no pun intended but there ya go. lol Anyhow... you keep strong. You are amazing!
