Will taking saboxine get us off the hydros?

Me and a buddy are desperately trying to quit hydros and perks Years and years of abuse....question one...Is the sabox a ticket out of this hell or are we just trading addictions? Ive been taking the sabox for a week now... im still kind of miserable but i think its working...My buddy tried it for first time yesterday morning...he felt great all day, by 6pm the withdrawal symptoms acted up and he took a tiny bit more...since then he has been violently ill for 8 hours..question two... why its not working for him? ..

with methadone u r tradeing addictions.but one,its legal!,two, its been proven to work, three, never run out long enough to withdrawls.it stays in your system for 24-36 hours.im on 119 mg. they wing you off at your own pace,im going slow to assure no relapse, there is doctors, counslers, groups. its alot safer than the streets.i abused opiets for 10 years.

age 9-19 i was addicted to opiets. worst pain off my life.withdrawls unbareble.i got into a methadone clinic and it was the best day of my life. i take 119mg of methadone a day and i do not withdrawl ever!!! i have tried to take other pain pills while on it but the opiet blocker in it prevents a buzz. when you first take ur dose for the day you do get a buzz it lasts for 20 mins, very similar to opiet buzz. i was takeing 50 750 vicodins a day,and when i couldnt find any,to avoid withdrawls i took 20-30 300mg neurontins. i took 40 one day and had seizers, but the 20 to 30 worked better than nothing. if i were you,i know i cant do it cold turkey, rehabs are a waste of time, methadone clinics are a good idea.suboxine makes ur withdrawls intense, you have to be cold turkey for 3 days, that dont work either.

Hey there and welcome! I totally agree with the 2 ladies above. Subs are an opiate and they are addictive. So, yes, you will be trading one addiction for another and since subs are totally synthetic and have a very long half life, the withdrawal and detox from them is very long and drawn out. Often times people who quit subs are looking at weeks of acute withdrawal symptoms as opposed to days with say Hydrocodone, or Oxycodone. I know how hellish opiate withdrawal can be, but there is no magic cure. You have to bite the bullet and go through it. It can be done. This community is filled with people that have gotten clean and stayed that way. Please stick around and keep posting. If you are serious about having the desire to quit, we can help you. Lots of great advice, support, and encouragement here. Good luck to both you and your friend!

If you take suboxone too soon duringnwithdrawal it will put you into precipitated withdrawals, which is withdrawals magnified by a thousand.  There is no way out of it, you just have to get through it.

This is one of the many reasons that you need to take suboxone under a doctor,p's supervision.  Unfortunately, there is no get out of hell free card.  Some people  feel suboxone has helped them.  I have no personalnexperience with suboxone, other than what I researched for a friend.  What I found was it's not a good choice toncome off hydros or percocets and it's even doubtful that it's a good choice from heroin.

My friend went that route, despite all the negative posts I read.  He was on it a week and it took his withdrawals away.  As soon as he stopped the sbs, he was right back in withdrawal.

Suboxone is not meant to be a "get out of free card."  It's one tool in a doctor-supervised program.  Unfortunately not all programs are created equal.  There are some doctors only in it for the money.

If you choose to go the sub route, find a good program.  Getting it on thenstreet is at best a crap shoot.  And even if you arenwith a good program and doctor, you will eventually have to detox off the subs, which, from what I've heard, is much harder and longer thab detoxing off hydrocodonenand/or methadone.

If this is still what you're considering, make sure you do lots of research and read all the posts so you know exactly what you're getting into.  In all the research I've done and the posts I've read, I can't remember one where the person said they were glad they went that route.

I'm assuming you both aren't under a doctor's care with the subs?  It's best to go thru a doctor with it if you want it to do what it's designed to do....If not, I think you will just trade one addiction for another....it's meant to be taken with aftercare and a program.  You also have to be into WDs pretty severe for it to do the job.  Maybe that's why your friend is so sick.  Please get on board with a doctor if you are going the subs route...We can help you thru WDs if you want support.. good luck and keep us updated on which route you take.
