Going CT Need Input...

Can some of you that have been thru CT W/D please help me with some questions?  I have gone CT once about a year ago; was taking up to 10 - 10mg (a day) of anything and everything I could get my hands on, i.e., vicodins, oxycotin, methadone, dilaudid, percs, etc.  This habit was formed over the period of a year.  The W/D's were horrendous, as many of you know.  I couldn't function AT ALL for at least two weeks, even by a month out it was still pretty bad.

Anyhow, within the last 6 months I relapsed and began taking oxy's and vicodin again.  I'm up to 40mg total a day (2, 10mg oxy's and 2, 10mg vicodins).  I tried tapering last week by 5mg (went down to a total of 35mg a day.  Didn't really have any WD's but definitely did not have the will power to do it for more than 3 days.  I'm afraid at this point I must do it CT.

Can anyone tell me if my WD's are going to be as bad as they were the first time I went thru this?  I was hoping since the dosage isn't very high my WD's either wouldn't be as bad or wouldn't last as long.  Do any of you have any experience with CT on lower vs. higher dosages and did it effect the intensity and length of the WD's?  Thank you for your help!

P.S. - I've been off and on pain pills for a couple different surgery's over the last few years but nothing that I should've taken them longer than a week or two.  This is definitely a recreational addiction for me; no chronic pain or diseases.  Thanks again!

It won't be fun. If you have stayed away from the methadone and dilaudid you may be better off. Those 2 have a long withdrawal time. Look in the top right for the Health Pages. There is info there to help you.

I have not relapsed so i dont know how the second time around would be...seems like you would know what to expect and your usage is not that much at this point...mentally it would **** me off that I did this to myself again but physically it seems as if it would not be as hard since your dose is not too bad...good luck and get it done..add some aftercare...I can see how using again could creep up on u...u would start thinking u could handle it after a while...I feel if i stay on this forum i will be reminded that i can not do it again...get some after care like NA or AA and stay on the forum if just periodically after u quit this time....keep posting

Hey...I am on day 3 (going onto day 4) CT, and I was taking 60mg Vic/day.  I am sore, sleepless with RLS, kinda depressed, diarreah, nausea, moody...but it's do-able.  I just think that if you are THAT worried about this that you should consider a detox center along with a 12 step plan.  Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and again while expecting different results.  Don't be insane.  Do what your gut tells you.  Get off the pills any way you can. I don't know your body...you know whats best.  Maybe try and get Suboxone or whatever for WD sympt.  I think you are headed in the right direction by realizing that yes, you do have a problem 2)you ARE looking to change your pill abusing ways 3) You are ready for help.  Do you have an understanding DR?  I didn't...'
Here's what I have done: 1) taken a great liquid multi V (source of life,)  2) 5HTP (for enhanced function of neurotransmitters,)  3) Tylenol sleep  NOTE: you do need to find valium if possible...b/c otherwise you'll have insomnia producing and annoying RLS.  I just got my Vallies today...just enough to last me through the WD sympts. I wish you the best...keep on asking questions and moving forward in your recovery.
