Going Cold Turkey off Oxycontin

After many years of trying to taper, my husband is going to get off Oxy's cold turkey. Clinics aren't an option because of his job. I know his usage is over 300 mgs a day but not sure of the number. He snorts them but says he has quit in preparation for this, but it is doubtful. Could someone give me the "Thomas Recipe" I think it is called of natural things that help during detox?
I'm also trying to figure out whether or not to use Clonidine. Sounds like it would make him a lot more comfortable but I read it can be deadly if stopped suddenly. He doesn't use wisdom with any pills, even vitamin supplements, acting more like they are a magic. So I am concerned about his ability to even use the Clonidine in a safe fashion and wonder if I should just draw the line at no presciption drugs?

GaGuy has given some really good advice. Sounds like you need some help. 300mg is alot. I would suggest going to a doctor to get a tapering plan. Maybe going to NA would really help too. Also, it might help if your husband gets some support from this forum. Lots of people here know what he is going through. Just want to send some prayers your way and hope you and your husband can get some help. Best Wishes

Clonidine can cause some rebound hypertension but I doubt it's deadly unless there's heart problems already. But, that's why we always say to do this under a doctor's care. From your post, it seems like your husband is a classic addict. 300mg's a day is a pretty heavy habit as well. You should really consider getting him either into an outpatient or inpatient rehab facility. It's pretty clear that after his years of trying that the same old way isn't working.
