Withdrawing from Suboxone, Help doctor!!!

Okay, well I have been taking oxycontin from December 2005 to August 1, 2008. I then went to jail and then to treatment. I started taking suboxone in January 2009 to July 2009. I quit doing it 3 days ago. I am having the weirdest withdrawals and it's driving me nuts!

My vision is impaired. I keep getting this "shock" feeling in my brain and in my vision every couple minutes, like it affects my entire concentration and I feel dizzy. What is this "brain shock"? I do feel tired and had troubles sleeping the last few nights but I forced myself to lay in bed until I'd fall asleep kicking around.

After dealing with 14 days of intense pain from oxycontin withdrawals, it's a lot easier to deal with these suboxone withdrawals and I know I can make it through with some help. I just need to know how long until these weird feelings in my head will go away? I also feel BRAIN DEAD....

I liked doing suboxones because it made me feel lightweight and full of energy. I was more sexually active and more talkative on it. I also have a small case of ADHD so I don't know if that has something to do with how I react to it. I've always had troubles concentrating but on suboxone I can concentrate on anything easily.

But I decided I want to establish and maintain a healthy relationship with my new boyfriend that I've been with since I got off oxycontins.

Any suggestions about how to make quitting suboxone easier so I can still have energy and my focus back? I really want to go swimming tonight but I might faint or be too dizzy to do it. I just found this website today and praying this might be the answer to the help I need (and deserve).

Thank you doctor!

It's been 8 days since I quit suboxone. I feel great now, no more headaches and nausea. Still got MAD diarreah though =( And i feel like i'm slowly feeling normal again. It's amazing how easily I can get addicted to things! I was suppose to only do suboxones recreationally, but that didn't work out!

Thanks everyone for the support :P

keep battling it and dont get back on it.........thats my opinion. its just another kind of opioid thats the problem.

I have been battling a methodone/norco habit and regret the day I ever touched methadone. its been a tough one to beat, quite a bit longer and has much longer WD/s. some have said it the worst, sure has felt like it. the first week was a bear, but I made it through it. second week things started getting better along with some regular half way decent sleep. 3rd week a little better still, now I am in the middle of the 4th week, sleeping like a baby now :]........and lack of energy is my biggest problem now. but each day I am improving and will not cave in no matter what !!!

pretty sad when you cannot have a normal bowel movement for 2-3 weeks !!  just seems to be waking me up even more to the mistakes I have made....................

5htp - get it, take it (unless you're already on an SSRI). I've been tapering down off sub forever and a day now and I've been on 5htp for almost a month, it helps more than I could have imagined with the taper and well-being in general.

It's weird, I have called several doctors and they all said they have to test my system for opiates or a large consumption of suboxone. Since I'm not taking opiates and I'm not taking "enough" suboxone, they refuse to prescribe it. If it's different in your area, try calling doctors in my area "snohomish county," and they will say the same thing to you. It's pathetic, but there's a reason behind it. They don't want to help people have a recreational drug use.

You said a doctor wont give  you  Sub because you have no opiates in your system??  Never heard of doctor that WOULD prescribe it with opiates showing up in your UA..      If you do have a doc I hope you will ask for assistance in a taper plan.....  Sub is really only a good tool if  used in conjunction with massisve after care.  I wish you the best.

The worst of my withdrawals from sub were days 3-10, after that I really noticed a daily improvement with all the symptoms. Some things that can help are b-vitamins/amino's, moderate excercise, drink lots of fluids, try to stay busy, hot baths/showers and maybe try some melatonin to help you sleep. Just like Ga Guy I quit at about .25mgs which is somewhat lower than where you quit, but just realize that you can make it through this. I also liked to take clonindine when ever I was detoxing from opiates, for me it helped a bit with constant hot/cold chills. Make sure after you make it through this detox period that you do seek some sort of aftercare, I cant stress enough how important it is. Its so cliche but getting clean is the easy part, staying clean is the realy hard part. Best of luck to you, hang in there and things will start to ease up a bit. In the mean time take care, keep yourself hydrated....oh yeah Immodium was also very important. Take Care.

You will definitely have some withdrawals from Sub. I got down to .25mg a day when I jumped, and still had mild withdrawals for 3-4 weeks. It does get better with time. Just try and resist the urge to pick something up to make the withdrawals better. Are you active in aftercare? 12 step program? Take care of yourself...this is a big trigger.

I was only doing 1/6th of an 8mg pill a day. It's really not much, but still enough to show withdrawal symptoms. My doctor said to completely stop cold turkey, and I've been getting it off the streets. A doctor wont give it to me because I have no opiates in my system. I use to do 5 x 80 mg pills of oxycontin a day, but I went to detox/treatment to get completely off it, but as soon as I was released I got into suboxone.

With the help of my boyfriend he helped me from getting out of control of the use of suboxone. It's hard because I feel sooooo tired, and my brain feels retarded. I take a lot of different vitamins (because I had a baby 4 months ago) and I have no health problems. This really *****!

Suboxone shouldn't be stopped CT. You should taper down under a doctor's supervision. What dose did you stop at?
