I had gotten off painkillers for 4 days and all of a sudden I started having real bad chest pains like an anxiety attach which got me back on tabs I've just had 5 of them in a 2day period. Will I have the same withdrawal or will it be less painful

I would go up to the top and post your question, that way you will get more responses! Those are withdrawls that you are having. You may also have runny nose, sneezing, dilated eyes and can't sleep! There is the thomas receipe you can try to help you! Its under health pages on the top right hand corner! Good luck!

Hey chal, yea you are gonna feel like you have the flu.thats how i felt the first time i stopped a couple of months ago, i had really bad back pains, you might have some restless legs also. But just stick with it .. i know its hard and your mind cant help but think about taking another one, its good you realized that you were hooked on them and that you want to stop. Keep that in mind and stay strong.

hi there I am new to the sight. and i quit cold turkey on friday the 13th. and am wondering if the symptoms are like having a bad case of the flu , not hungry, and no energy, I was on oxycodone 10's for 2 months due to oral surgery. My perscription ran out on friday so I am not filling it any more. I was taken them 2 at a time every hour. I ate a bottle of 120 pills in less then a week ugh. I relized that i was hooked and had to do something, but wanting to know if thisa is normal feelings of withdrawls. ty chal

Glad to hear you are doing better! Man, those WD's are rough! You would think we would learn the first time around! The mental and emotional portions are the hardest for me. I go to a lot of AA/NA meetings. I finally got myself a sponsor, after being in the program for 4 years and being a chronic relapser. I doing the steps with her and actually excited to start! I'm so over feeling like crap all the time. I am ready for a new way of living!

I need to find something to occupy my mind like music does for you!

hey lmb, im doing better now..think its day 7 now..and the physical portion i think is over..my body just has low energy right now but im working on that, i also wake up feeling really heavy but thats starting to go away also. Now its just the mental portion which im dealing pretty well with so far, i listen to a lot of music and started playing my bass again so its helping me keep my mind off of it. How are you doing so far?

How are you doing today, Aesthetic? I have been thinking about you. I am on day 10, so we are pretty much going through this together. Oh, and I am coming off a relapse too. Ugh.  Anyhow, just wanted to say hi and see what's up. I hope the physical WD's are over for you!!

3 days off is fantastic. Well done!

If you're still feeling like crap, I would get on line and order some Valerian Tincture (which will help you sleep, and some 5HTP which will ease the WD's, ease pain, calm you down and help you sleep.

I frankly doubt a doctor would give you much that would be more effective at this stage. Tranquillisers could just convert you to a new dependency.

Hopefully it won't last too much longer for you, but if it does get really bad just get on here and ask for help.

My thought are with you.

Well done on those 3 days now. How long did this relapse last? What triggered it? I am sure you will be feeling better physically in a couple days, but it's the mental part and those cravings that is the hardest part of addiction. Getting support, aftercare and making some changes can make all the difference in staying clean. I hope you feel better soon and keep posting. Good luck man.

If you go and see your regular primary physican then they will more than likely give you Calonadine and sleeping meds. Or you could get into the Subuxone Program and get prescribed that which helps tremdously but you would have to get clean from that which is ALOT easier than pain killers but still if you have gone 3 days already and are *alright* then I would just recommend some sleep meds, etc.

Screw the doctors. I prbly don't know what I'm talking about, but from my experience, the answer and the help is INSIDE YOU. No doctor is going to help you more than you can help yourself.
You are without pills. Do you want to quit? If so, that is the very best thing in the world for your health, mentally, physically and spiritually. You don't need a doctor to tell you that. Keep reading here. Theres lots of good advice on how to live through to staying clean.
I did not find this site until I was on like day 13, so I was really white knuckling it. Plus I kept praying to Jesus and so I did have help beyond understanding, but you have this resource so use it .
Be strong!! Join us quitters (like Goingtomakeit always says) .
Hugs,
