Haven't been on here for awhile...

I became addicted to oxycodone 15mg in 2012 after my first back surgery, obviously I was on them while I was in the hospital for 7days after surgery then took them for about 4 days once I got home. I tried to stop and became sick and realized I was addicted.  I go to a pain clinic for my chronic pain.  Since then I had surgery on my elbow and just 2 weeks ago I had another back surgery. My oxycodone has never been upped in dosage so of course it doesn't help with the pain. I was prescribed 5 a day and now I'm at 4 a day. I also take adderall (I have always been a hair twirler since I could remember). Since taking the adderall ive stopped with twirling my hair and concentrate more. Well I was recently prescribed gabapentin   Since I've started taking it ive been so tired, I literally lay around all day long and twirl my hair. I can't break the habit. Idk if the gabapentin stops the adderall from working or what.  But it has helped with my leg pain.  My goal is to taper down off my oxycodone once my pain is under control which I feel the gabapentin can do that, but I can't continue to be so tired everyday   (Also I'm unable to do any physical therapy so that isn't an option to control my pain instead of my oxycodone)

The pain clinic started me on the gabapentin 3x a day. I have an appointment at the clinic and my family dr this week. Since the pain clinic is so strict with pill counts and drug testing I'm afraid to just stop taking them. But I'm obviously not adjusting to them because I still feel so tired all day. I hope they either up my adderall or lower the other. Idk I'f it's just in my head but I feel like the gabapentin can help lowering my oxycodone dosage. I was taking 5 15mg oxycodone a day  I was down to 2 1/2 a day but after this last back surgery I'm back up to 4 a day.  The hair twirling is driving my family crazy, my son said he wouldn't scratch his poison ivy if I didn't twirl my hair lol. So I know it must be bad, and i need the adderall to work I just wish I didn't feel like this because the gabapentin is the only thing that has actually helped. I decided to have surgery knowing that there was only a 10% chance it would help the pain. Why they just now decided to give me this med instead of years ago before my first surgery idk.

Did you titrate up on the gabapentin?  Meaning, did you start at a low dose and then GRADUALLY increase you dose?

Gabapentin CAN make you tired.....usually a patient is told to start your dose at night (bedtime) and then increase the dose over a period of time determined by your dr.

I'd check with your doctor since you've got 3 drugs interacting with one another.

You really need to talk with your doctor about this and hopefully he/she can readjust the meds for you.
