Help please. Day 6 of opiate withdrawal.

Hello all. I would just like to say I'm on day 6 of opiate withdrawal. A little back ground I'm 26 female who needs to use daily. Ive been addicted to any kind of opiate for the last 4 years. I Bang (IV) anything from oxy, methadone, morphine, and heroine anything that I can get my hands on for the day. I've tried to quit numerous times over the last year but fail every time. I'm sick of pawning my precious items being broke everyday waking up feeling like **** and only caring about my next fix. I never thought I would grow up and be a drug addict. I don't really have a support system which is why I am here. My friends and family have no idea so rehab is not an option also I have a really good job that would let me go if they knew I had a drug problem. So quitting on my own is the only way. Every time
I try to quit I make it to day 6 and cave :( ... I guess I'm just really looking for someone to talk to and give hope. I'm sorry if I am rambling and my post is hard to follow my head is all over the place and I have gotten very little sleep these last 6 days. I appreciate anyone's comments. Thank you. AA

Hi Ashley
I'm here because my daughter has the same problem.  However, she does not have a job and is unfortunately homeless.  It's terrifying and horrible. She too wants to get better and tells me that she has 5 months clean now after detox and some rehab.  She is in a program.  Lives more than 3 hours away from me (she's 28 yo).  Please hang in there.  I know from my daughter's experiences that this drug gets ahold of you and won't let go but i CAN BE BEAT!  Use all of your inner strength and think about how great your future will be.  No one (addicts and ppl who love them) deserves this.  You are bigger than the drug.  I wish you all the best with your recovery.

hey Ash-

So happy to hear you're hanging in there.  Maybe the Immodium delayed the tummy thing and so now you're experiencing it.  That stuff, depending on your metabolism can hang around for awhile.
Keep pushing the fluids, it's the best thing.  And yes a shower and a walk outside would do you wonders.

I've had the flu since Saturday afternoon and let me tell you, it's just like detox.  Hot and cold flashes, tummy ache, skin crawling (I've had a fever for 36 hours it just broke) head ache, sneezing, sore eyes.  So maybe just tell yourself you have a bad flu instead of focusing on it as withdrawal.
A lot of people do this and it seems to work.  Helps with treating ourselves kindly instead of beating ourselves up for getting ourselves into this position.
Love and kindness is more useful than shame and anger.
Also just wondering if you've given any thought to aftercare?
I really, really want to see you succeed at this.  I don't want you to ever have to go through this again.
Every time we relapse it takes something from us.  Sometimes it takes everything.
So think about it, okay?
Proud of you...

Hey atthebeach I have been using Imodium here and there from day 1 and never had any stomach issues until halfway through day 8. So I'm not really sure what brought it on. I'm going to take your advice and try and walk a couple blocks or even just sit outside. I'm trying to find the energy to shower so I look halfway presentable and human when I do.

So glad you are feeling better. Make sure you keep up your fluid intake and eating. It is very important. Try to get outside for a walk and some sunshine.
Both will also help you feel better.
Have you been using Imodium for your tummy?
Congrats on your clean time you are doing awesome.

A bit more of an update... Finally a break through .. 5 whole hours of solid sleep most I've had through the wretched experience. Headache finally went when I woke up I think it was a combination of lack of sleep fluids and food .. So I took everybody's advice and forced myself to eat and drink lots of fluids ... As for the horrible stomach pains no idea where they came from since I have been using the bathroom regularly... The were excruciating for about 7 hours ... All I could do is lay in one position in agony ...when I woke from my sleep the pain had went from a 9 to about 4 now so it's slowly going away thank goodness I rather have my headache for days then deal with another hour of that. Anyway withdrawal wise same boat as day 1. Im still just as miserable .. Hoping that speck of light down the tunnel starts showing soon.. Thank you everyone for advice it was a godsend this time. 11 hours till day 10! Still clean.
