Help with game addiction...

Hi,

I've been seeking an answer to a question that I have for the longest time now. I think I have an addiction to video games. Some of you may not consider it an addiction but I realized that it's interfering with my social life and my studies; and like most addictions, I can't get myself to quit. If anyone has some effective methods (other than psychotherapy) to help me quit, please let me know. Thank you.

Just want to say, "Good for you!"  Realizing that you can get too much of a good thing is a sign of growing up and becoming a responsible adult.  From your name MD2B I'm guessing you are a student.  I heard some great advice from the Tarnow Center for Self Management in Houston, TX.  Dr. Tarnow said that good intentions will get you nowhere.  It takes lots of study and hard work to become an MD, and playing video games more than an hour a day to relax maybe, is too much.  I'm struggling with my teenagers doing it too much.  Listen to your instincts.  You probably have a school counselor or access to a counselor if you are a student.  Take advantage of that if you need to.  There are usually lots of resources for young people who want help with behavior issues.  Good Luck!

A serious question? How old are you? My brother had a serious addiction. When he hit 22 it just stopped.
