Heroin withdrawal and weight loss

I have been a heroin addict going on three years.Last summer I went to rehab and got back to my healthy weight of 200pds and muscular. This winter i relapsed and have been going back and forth from detoxing to using. My question is during this time I lost 40pds.Is it normal to lose this much weight on this drug.I have prescriptions for xanax and wellbutrin.

I am an athlete and i have a very good support network.I suffer from agoraphobia and have turned to illegal drugs.I think i have found a good medication,I am taking wellbutrin, the only problem is it can make you lose weight. It has helped me with cravings dramatically.I got three days clean but it feels like 3 weeks.I have detoxed and relapsed 3 times this winter and i am praying this will be the last time.My fear of groups has held me back from meetings.Going through detox now.

Weight loss during heroin use is very common. We call it the "Southside Diet" here in Houston. Poor eating habits and malnutrition are very common to heroin users because we typically either don't care to eat or use the money we would normally eat with to buy more drugs. I lost about the same amount of weight when I started pushing heroin, it's very unhealthy. You trying to get off of it again? Let me know, I've been there, maybe I can help.

If you don't eat very much, you'll lose weight.

Normal?  There's not one normal symptom while taking this drug! They're all bad!

I wish you well staying off heroin.
