How do I ease the pain with no meds?

Hi, I have been addicted to meds since 09, I started with hydro and then went to norco (which are also hydro just more strength) 10/325's. I have tried month after month and year after year to quit. My husband is esrd so access to the pills is easy, sometimes. He even hates the withdrawls and gets me what I need bc he doesn't like to see me writhing in pain. I am once again trying to stop cold turkey, my question is what helps ease the pain while detoxing... other meds excluded. Right now I am on day 2!! Please help!!

The pain for me peaked worse then it every did, even beat all the pain I had suffered from my back injuries.. The best advice I got in my opinion was the baths, I made them as hot as I could stand them, got a cold cloth for my head and sunk down to my chin and whether I stayed for 10 mins or for 50, for that period of time I didn't hurt and I was relaxed.. Twist has a good point with the Icy hot patches, I use to wear them to work when I pulled trucks, the problem with heat all the time is even though it may feel good when on it just makes it that much more inflammed when it comes off. so while I think the baths helped for all aspects of the WD, if your in legiment pain from an injury or what not, try to alternate. I also found that aleeve was amazing for pain.
One other thing I did was crank my air condintion to like 62 or lower and had my hubby dig out our heating blanket and crawled under it, it seemed to get me an extra hour or two of sleep because I was just "cozy feeling" after being so cold then covering up with something so warm.

Your doing great, and I know you want to chew your arm, leg, or whatever you can get to off, please don;t ;)... It will only make ur pain that much worse lol.. YOu getting in the thick of it, it will be over before you know it and you can go onto enjoying your life and seeing all the little things you missed..

I couldn't help but laugh at the chewing your arms off =p (if you can't have a sense of humor, it'll be a lot harder) I know how you feel issa.

If you hurt badly in a specific place, I suggest going to the store and getting "Icy hot" patches, they carry all sized, and it'll last 8 hours, and it beats the heck out of a heating pad or a bath IMO.

The bath for me worked while I was in it, and about 10 minutes after I got out. I found that the heating pad would burn me it'd be so hot, but I still hurt. They key is SUPER COLD...then warm...SUPER COLD then warm...this is why Icy hot patches are amazinggggggggggggggggggggg.

I went through about 4 boxes of them, and they made some days/nights so much better. Can't even tell you how much they helped! I am forever in their debt!

the hot baths were awesome for me...i was taking 2-3 a day during WDs.....they relax you and help with anxiety and the pain.  Hope you get some relief from it....the pain does su*k!!

I dnt feel awesome ..I feel like riping my own arms off or chewing them off ! I know it gets better but right now I dnt see the silver lining. Thnk you for the advise tho, a really hot bath actually sounds good right now

Take hot baths with Epsom salts, heating pad and ice.
Time,time, time.........
Keep moving forward you are doing awesome.
Get rid of all your pills to prevent relapse.

Thank you, I have been drinking a lot of water and eating ice, tumeric root, never hears of it but will def try it....anything to stop this pain

Calcium-Magnesium-Zinc (all in one pill) will help pain.

Turmeric root. It will bring down pain, and any inflammation

Fish oil Omega 3. It can help with pain, as well as your mood.

Icy hot patches

B-Complex. This will help you mentally, and will give you energy.

Lots of water, you really will find the more you drink, the less you hurt, also get up and move around, it feels like a really bad idea I know, but it'll help. You're going to be sore for awhile..

I'm on day 20, and my back still hurts.

In the end you're just going to have to want this bad enough to suck it up. There is no magic bullet. Hope any of this helps, good luck.
