And the Melatonin or Alteril didn't work for me at first either....but it DOES get better.....just HANG ON tight.....you will feel better soon!!
hi....the depression wasn't too bad for me but i wasn't depressed before taking pills so that's prolly why.....now the energy thing....omg i still don't have back all my energy...but i was a long time abuser and i'm 53 so that prolly makes a diff.....everyone is diff too so it might come back sooner for you....i do attend NA meetings but it took me awhile to get up the courage to go. and i also have a counselor and that helps ALOT. Sleeping was almost non-existent for me at first....first 2 wks i was getting 3-4 hrs tops. But now it's much better....i take Melatonin and that helps me sleep better. And i have been clean 43 days :) Hope this helps some....just know there are people out there that have been clean for YEARS and are still on this site to help us newbies....so keep posting questions and reading the posts....if you have a new question post it as a new thread so more people will see it.....let me know how you are doing!
Did you feel ultra depressed and had zero energy ie. not even able to get out of bed, when you w/d? How long did it take for you to return to "normal"; did you have an underlying depression that caused you to use drugs to begin with? Are you attending NA meetings and are they helping? So many ?'s, but how long did it take for your sleep cycle to return to normal, or has it? Don't know how long you have been clean but need a frame reference. Thanks.
just wanted to lend my support....this site is awesome for info and support....just keep posting your questions and concerns.....we are all here for you
The depression is a normal part of the w/d's and for alot of people there was underlying depression before which is what started them on the road to self medicating. The depression your describing though may be less about the w/d's. You may want to address that with your Dr and try and find a medication that can help. Antidepressants or even mood stabalizers. There are many kinds out there, its just a matter of finding the right one.
I know you feel bad now and the lack of energy part does get better. Your doing a good thing for yourself.
As long as you are taking anything you will stay in mild withdraws. That is what you are experiencing right now. At 10mg a day you should be able to just stop taking and not really experience much more withdraw than what you are in now. Your energy and depression will start to lift in a few days after that. BUT you will have dips in your energy and mood for a few weeks afterwards. Are you using any of the ingredients from the Thomas Recipe to help alleviate the wd symptoms?
should mention that I was on .5mg for a week and only started back on 10 mg. 2 days ago. My question is does this depression ease and is it a natural part of w/d along with having utterly no energy nor initiative to do anything.
The depression is extreme; not appropriate for antidepressants, is all due to PTSD whose symptoms bring you to your knees. Still, I want off of the Norco so I can access clearly what to do. PTSD alters your brain chemicals and responses to stimuli; hypervigilant, hyperarousal, startle responses etc. etc., it is a nightmare unto itself and there is not research that has found an effective treatment be it meds or otherwise.
I have been tapering for the past 3 weeks. I was taking aprox. 40mgs.
Same question.. How much we're you taking?
I'm guessing two weeks ago was when you decided to try and quit by your post? So how long have you been on them and how much were you taking two weeks ago when you decided to get off of them?
