Is there hope for me?

I have had a drug problem for about 18 years. It started out because my husband was on a methadone clinic, and I was working a lot of late nights, and have a condition that makes me feel exhaustion. It started out that he would take a bit if his methadone and give it to me. This would make me feel great, and I could work all night without a problem. So as the years went by, I found myself taking it every day. Then my husband passed away. I then found myself buying it from his friends, and now it has been years, and I can't afford it, and have tried to quit a few times, but can't, and have tried to get on a clinic myself, but they wouldn't take me. I am so afraid of life! So any advice that would make this problem go away??????

Thanks guys! I am very afraid of the withdrawals. I called a local clinic, and they wouldn't take me because I had not "failed" at detox yet. people told me I would have to go in somewhere, and fail to get detoxed, then I could get on a clinic, but I work all the time, living paycheck to paycheck, and that is not an option for me. I looked into a Dr that would give me suboxone, but the nearest one was a good hour drive each way, and I would have to go every day for weeks. My latest PLAN is to try and cut myself down VERY slowly, slower than weekly steps. Like 5 M every 3-6 MONTHS! Hopefully I will have the strength to do this?? But if I have a hard week, or have to work extra hours, it will be very hard.

Ps... I would like to think There is hope for you..because if not...there's no hope for me.  I've been using for 17 years and addicted for 10...and i just turned 28. Its been a rough road... I believe you have a great chance to have a normal life. I know you can do it. It won't be easy...but it will be worth it.

Why wont the clinic take you? Please look around your area for other methadone clinics. The withdrawals are horrible. I did it twice and each time...after just a few days..was back at it. That's honestly how i became addicted to heroin. I did whatever i could find to just make the pain and sickness go away. I also did it the right way...once. Taken down 5mgs a week til at nothing.. Even after ..months after...i experienced *paws*  post acute withdrawal symptoms. Its like i had a horrible flu for months...like sneezing 8x in a row ...which i still do although using again.  Hopefully you find a clinic and drop your use the right way. Its the worst withdrawal I've experienced yet. Clinics work wonders...if you actually want the help.    Good luck :-)
