How to help an Oxcontin addict?

Hi im 16 and me and my whole family are trying to get my uncle off Oxcontin, My uncle is 38 and an oxcontin addict, he has been an addict for about 3-4 years. He not only chews Oxys but also snorts them. He goes through about 15  20's a day, alot more if their 10s. He has lost about 4 jobs recently because of it. But that is not the worst of the problems his 19 year old girlfriend is now pregnant with her first child (his) She is not aware of how deep his drug problem is and I  am so woried for her and this baby, he really needs to clean up his act if not only for him but for her and hsi unborn child (he didnt even make it to the first ultra sound) .He is constantly making excuses for why he cant get help, has to work, too expensive, dosent want to tell his doctor ext.  He is honestly an amazing guy the real uncle he was not this new person hes become. My mom, my grandma, and my grandpa have all been addicts and i am happy to say they are all now clean. Alchohol, speed, and other things they have gotten over, they have even been on oxycontin for pain. We have done everything we can think of too help,we dont know what else to do and he says he depersatly wants to get off them, we have heard about methadone, but are worried that might become a new addiction along with the oxy's we are leaning towards suboxone(sp?) and are encouraging him to try it? He has terrible withdrawls and cant handle to go cold turkey he has night terrors, cant sleep, cant move at times, pukes alot and is always jumpy. IF ANYONE HAS ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEASE ANYTHING WILL HELP.WHAT CAN I DO TO HELP I KNOW IN THE END IT IS HIS DESCISION, but what can i do as a family member ?

im not sure about finding a doctor in canada that prescribes suboxone, i recomend googling it. not to be rude or blunt, but i think the reasons for him not wanting to go to NA meetings are he just really isnt ready to quit. he has to want it with everything he has, 200%. you should try getting him to go to atleadt one na meeting, be extremely supportive of him, and he may find it helpful. another recomendation is to try and set up a taper, meaning you cut down the amount of mg you are taking slowly so you can minimize the withdraws. but with this he would have to have somebody hold his meds and dispense them because otherwise he would be too tempted to take his normal dose. if you contact avisg, she can help you with a taper plan. i will message her and ask her to come to this post for some help.

Honestly good luck, I have seen so many people in my life detoxing and i feel for you, and its nice to see some positivity, i am trying really hard to get him into NA, the thing is when my mom and him were my age there dad was a total alcoholic, and my mom and my grandma went to AA but he would never deal with it, and accept the emotional part of it. I really hope you can stick to it, I hate oxycontin with all my being, you are so young and have so much potential, Thanks alot

your welcome. send me a message if you need any further help, i myself am kicking an oxycontin addiction, and i am only 2 years olders than you. it is damn hard but doable. i also recommend looking into some NA meetings, they are free and aftercare is an important part in STAYING clean, because that is the hard part, getting clean is the easy part. message me anytime
