I know the temptation to take those other medications to take the edge off the withdrawal is so tempting, but it's like playing with fire.

You may find that you've gotten of the Fentanyl and Oxycontin only to find yourself having a problem getting off the Valium, Ambien, and Flexaril.

If you do decide to use some or all of those medications, I wouldn't use them for more than 3 days in a row.  Wait the first 24-48 hours and see how bad the Withdrawals are.  Missing 2 days of sleep and feeling sick and achy is not that intolerable.

Some people quitting here go for days or weeks without sleeping and feeling sick until they start to feel better.

I am tapering off Vicodin, and I have those Medications also, but I don't want to use them.  I'd rather just go through being sick and just hang in there until the worst is over.

I do use Herbal Remedies though and find some of those helpful.  Everyone's body is different, and you have to experiment with different things to see what helps you.

Alot of people here go by the "Thomas Recipe," and there are other Amno Acids and Minerals that can be helpful too.

I wish you all the best.

I understand tradig addictions.   I used to be a coke addict and have only in the pat year started with pills.  I only take opiates.  I was just told these other pills will help with the withdrawals.   I thank you for you advice

You asked and the answers I gave were MY opinions. I have seen many people switch addictions. Diazepam is a benzo and dangerous to ct off of. the muscle relaxers may do some good and maybe the Ambien will as well. My thoughts are that you are getting off of pills so taking more pills keeps you in that behavior. As addicts we are real good at "take a pill", it hurts. Know what I mean? It is not just about putting down the pills, but about changing your thinking and behaviors. Again, just my opinion.

Best of luck and let us know as you go along. If you need anything, just ask.

You don't think muscle relaxera will work.  It seems like it would.  Ambien for sleep and diazepam for taking my mind off of it.   Just a thought.

Hi & Welcome,

I don't know how much a little bit is but that will determine the intensity of the withdrawal. Personally, I don't think any of those other medications will help and I would hate to see you switch addictions. At this point you may be best off just doing the ct detox. If you go to the top right of this page you will see the health pages. In there is The Amino Acid Protocol which contains supplements to help ease the withdrawal. Hot soaks in the tub are helpful and just feel good. Be sure to stay hydrated. OTC Immodium will help with the bathroom issues and be sure to eat something, even if it is something small. If you can do light exercise it also helps. Even a walk around the block helps the muscle aches and takes your mind off of the detox. Try and keep yourself occupied by reading, watching tv or whatever it is that relaxes you. In a week, or maybe less the physical will be over for the most part and I am glad you have plans for support afterwards.

Keep posting and ask any questions as you go along. There is great support here. Good luck!
