WTH, I thought today would be better!

Backround: approx 10 vicodin a day for over 10 years.

Last Monday, Tues & Wed: quick drop to 2 per day.
Withdrawals started the first night.

Thur, Fri, Sat, Sun and today........NOTHING.
And I still feel like I'm jumping out of my skin.

At night my legs and arms just go nutso. I vcan't stand it.
I feel like the aliens are crawling around under my skin.

Should the damned vico be out of my system by now??

(btw. I flushed 4 today. Only about 100 to go!)

Hey hun. I saw the posts about the "aliens" under your skin from Vicodin w/d. I have the SAME problem. It will go away once you have stopped  taking Vicodin all together. its a very hard thing to do. But it DOES get better. Its going to be one night (or day) of complete hell.. not being able to sit, restless, cant sleep.. you are going to feel as if youre going crazy... but just remember... every minute you are suffering is a minute closer to being free from it.

In the past I withdrew from oxycontin because I have severe endometriosis. The Dr.s gave me oxycontin, and oxycodone to take for 3 months until I got surgery to scrape it all out. They never told me about the w/d I would have to go through, Unfortunatly for me, the endo has grown back, and I am now on the oxy again. The pain has subsided a bit... enough to where I dont need opiods anymore, but I cant stop taking them b/c of the addiction. I am trying to taper down. There is a lot of help on here. Take advantage of it!

Hang in there.  You are getting so close to that peak.  Believe me it gets better.  It is day 12 for me.  Physically I am good, thanks to Clonidine.  Mentally I am drained, because of my first day back to work.

Stick around and we will get you thru this.  There are some pretty knowledgable people around here and supportive people here...

I wish I had clonidine to try, but this town is too small to talk to a doc about this.

Last night I covered my arms and legs with BenGay and then wrapped them in ace bandages.

And, my b'friend is still buying the FLU story.
Good grief.

I wouldn't say it lasts for months. I am on Week 2 (day 13 C/T) and I am feeling a million times better than last week. I still feel the WDs here and there, but the good are starting to outweigh the bad.

I think one of the factors that is so difficult to grab is that you will one day get back to normal. The past few days, I kept thinking what if I did something to damage myself beyond repair and I will "never" feel normal. However, every day seems to get better and better and by now, day 13 or 14, I feel like I can get back to normal.

I read some posts that says Months and Weeks and honestly, it was a bit discouraging. Don't think about weeks/months or else you will consume yourself with thought and anxiousness, which you really don't need right now. Just tell yourself, each and every day is one day that my body is getting clean. Just keep telling yourself that, try the Amino Detox (Fladdicts); works great for energy.

Everybody is different and heals/recovers differently. Just try to stay positive (as hard as that may sound) and keep pushing, each day and every day. You can do it; we're all here for you.

I am sorry you are still feeling this way...DO u have any clonodine??
Cathy is so right, it takes a while...Our bodies are so used to this drug it is crazy..
10 yrs is a long time, but taking 10 a day is not bad for using that long...I was using for 3 yrs and got up to 15 or more that last yr....
Just hang on, i promise it will get better, it just takes time ....
Clonodine helped me so so much......
good luck to you

It takes a long time to get back to normal. Be patient with yourself. Even after you begin to feel good you may have a down day or two. This can be normal and just keep on going. Cathy & I are both over 4 months and It wasn't until this last month that I felt fairly normal. That is no to say that there wasn't a lot of good days, because there was.
Good job on kicking this habit, just stick with the clean.

Cathy, I found that journal entry.

I actually laughed out loud when you mentioned the absurdity of expecting to feel just great in a few days after YEARS of abusing our bodies with drugs.

I guess it feels like I'm paying......hard paying..... and I want it over. Yesterday.

I'm thinking us pill users like to feel good and to not feel good is a bit insulting!

There are many factors as to how long or hard the withdrawals are. 10 years of use is the biggy and 10/day is a fair amount. That being said, w/d may last up to a week. Hang in there, it does get better. take a look at the Thomas recipe in the Health Pages on right side of page.
