Just started suboxone ha anyone else?

Hello I have been doing pill since late 2004 , quitting 2 times and only lasting a month or so before relapsing. Since about May of 2008 I added other pills my choice was perks but when I added others it got worse I started with liquid morphine and methadone and dilaudid. Then came the oxy at first I just took the pill then started chewing, crushing and snorting and for last 6 months I was at 300 to 400 mg a day. It was the only way I could function PERIOD. After my last 2 attempts coming clean to my wife about my use I detoxed but never had follow thru. And back in like 1987 I went thru treatment. And I knew I was gonna crash and burn but didn't know how hard. Well it was hell. I laid in bed 4 three weeks in a dark room only to come out to have a smoke, I didn't watch tv or anything, I was miserably depressed to the point of not wanting to live and thank god I couldn't find keys to my garage with the intentions I had I mean I put my coat and shoes on and wanted life over. A good friend insist I go check in to hospital now, I said no I will in the morning, which I did. And I have read about suboxone and what it can do for you and found a treatment center that was taking new suboxone patients and went the next week. The Dr told me it is a drug that basically work miracles for most people. I went and dosed that morning 12 mg and by the time I got home 3 hours later I had felt life in me I thought was gone. I am currently at 16 mg. And beleive me I learned before in treatment that give up one for another, and I do struggle with that a little bit, not that bad though. Personally if I am on it long term so be it. I'm 42 years old and have relapsed more times than I could think of. And this time I am doing what they recommend or me whereas the last 2 detox I left and never did any type of treatment thinking I would be able to stop. I should hbe known better. Are there any people that have been on it long term? I quit reading posts on other sites cuz they are all so negative and after finding this site it has both sides or opinions so to speak. So with that said please talk to me about what you think about it.

Yeah talking with others that are more or lees or have been basically in my state of recovery it gives me great positive motivation to talk with others. I do talk to my wife she understands a little but she even says she never would unless she had done the thing I have done, which she won't. So I'll keep on goin and I'm gonna try to sleep Noe LOL I'm lucky to get 3 hours in a row them I'm up for nite. And I knew this would happen again as it has before but wonder how much insomnia is caused from the sub?

I've never been to NA myself but have heard many say you need to look around until you find one that you feel comfortable with. There are even some that go to aa even though they had a narcotic addiction. Addiction is addiction rather it is alcohol or drugs. There are so many different meetings out there that you will eventually find one you like.
Make sure you stick around here also. This is also a great place for aftercare. The more aftercare you get, the better! We are all here to support you in your journey! You will also find that helping others can actually help you in your fight. I guess it just makes you feel good knowing that a few words of advice or encouragement can make quite a difference in someone's life. Sometimes just the words you type to someone can be the deciding factor on their decision to finally quit abusing. Hang in there bud and keep up the positive attitude! You will make it this time!

Thank you both! And like I say I will have follow thru this time, my wife beleives me on this one. I am in outpatient program and then same place will do aftercare, don't get me wrong part of my long use was her that's like a book lol. The only problem I have is N/A meetings. I'd prefer a smaller group not the 50 to 60 that go to  prefer

I've never used sub so can't comment on it. Just wanted to say congrats on not giving up and finding something to help you get clean! From what I have read their are some that use it short term for around 2 weeks and have had great success on it. I have also heard it is a very strong narcotic and the withdrawals are very difficult. Many recommend it as a last resort after all other serious attempts have failed. It sounds like you have tried numerous things and sub is a good option for you. I wish you the best in this fight! Keep us informed on how you are doing. There are some wonderful and caring people here that will not judge. We are all here to help!
Best of luck!
