I have been reading some and ?s on alternate to methadone/suboxone ...

On the Addiction board , there is a Dr there thst answers most posts. She is part of a rapid detox clinic in Michigan.

So with everyone who takes methadone ( I have too for a couple months) or Suboxone to stay off of opiates.  Why isn't Natrolene therapy used more? Or is it the same? A once a mo th injection called Vivitrol is used too.

If this is once a month it can't be addicting can it? Must be long lasting though. This sounds like such a better option to methadone or suboxone programs. Or is it another too good to be true thing? I understand you need to have the opiates out of your system (much like suboxone) to start. But couldn't it be such a benefit for those who can't remain free amd clean?

Any experience or knowledge of?

I guess there is a savings card for it so it is cheaper. So you have used it? How long? Or someone who did.

Thank you for your answer. It is very helpful. But I think you misunderstood my question.

I was asking if anyone knows about the once a month injection Vivitrol used as part of Natrolene (spelling?) therapy. Like used after a rapid detox thing (not asking about rapid detox know that is dangerous).

Is it good? Or is it the same as methadone or suboxone?  Just know do many who can't stay clean thru the years. A once a month injection sounds like a wonderful thing.

And it 's not for me. Doing my norco taper. 5mg down to 4 times a day. Survived the decrease from 2 1/2 pills a day. Now looking forward to the next decrease to 1 1/2 pills a day in a week.

the vivatrol shot is ok. it doesn't get addicting, but if you use during it you wont feel a thing. its better than taking a suboxone every day but its more expensive.

please listen very carefully to what advice im giving you as ive seen all options and know hundreds of success/failures.

Methadone is called liquid hand cuffs where im from because you cant go anywhere without it. Methadone litteraly gets so deep in your system it effects your bones. ive had multiple friends get arrested- put in jail while on 100+ mg of methadone. And from what I hear its the longest/roughest withdrawal you can go through. if your on it... id recommend going straight down to 5mg then jump.

Suboxone has a special place in my heart where my hatred lies. If I could go back before I decided suboxone would be a good idea, I would kick myself and my doctor in the teeth. Im currently 2 weeks without suboxone after 3 years of it. and I cant belive how horrible the withdrawals were. had I known then what I know now... I would have kicked heroin/oxys by it self in a heart beat.

Please don't be another number. the heroin/oxy withdrawals last much less and aren't as horrible as methadone/suboxones are. (although it all seems like were litteraly in hells mouth during any kind of withdrawal, it can be worse.)
