I have to start over

So I had almost 5 days clean and I messed up. I feel like such a failure. Why can't I get off of these little white death sentences? I need words of wisdom and encouragement.

You DON"T have to ride this garbage truck ALL the way to the dump...you can get off anytime.  You know you can make 5 days....please don't stop trying...the miracle is right around the corner....
Others will tell you this same thing...YOU ARE NOT ALONE !!

Congrats on taking your life back.  The short answer to your question is that we as addicts are powerless over drugs.  We romanticize, justify, rationalize,  and fantasize about using, obtaining, and how this time it is going to be different.  Truth is, the ending is most always the same or worse.  5 days is just when you are a out to turn a corner and start feeling  physically  better.  Then comes a huge psychological battle.  That's why surrounding yourself with others in recovery at meetings is so important.  You can start over.  Most of us relapse over and over until we just don't have it in us anymore.  It gets worse each time. Hang in there as if your life depends on it, because it does.  What's a few days compared to the rest of your life?  Keep posting for support.  Great people on here to help you through this.

in less than 12 hours I will be at day 5 myself. I struggle, but I notice everyday is getting a little better and to hold on one more day. Most ppl relapse, but that's no reason to quit, when was the last time you went 5 days without narcotic? That is wonderful. Keep it up. When I feel really weak and want to grab a pill, It passes. You already know you can make it without meds. If im really weak, I will take one but no more than 1 tylenol every 8-12 hours. It helps taking them when you normally would have taken a narcotic. Please keep up the good work, a mess up doesnt erase your accomplishment !!
