I went to rehab for opiates and they used methadone to taper me. I felt pretty decent until the last dose of methadone, that's when I realized how potent the maintenance meds like done and subs are. I think they can be used properly because I know too well how overwhelming it is to get completely clean and immediately inserted back into life, but I would also hate knowing eventually I have to battle sub withdrawals again.
As far as relapses, opiates are a nightmare and pretty much every addict has them. The mental anguish from it is just as hard as initially getting clean but just giving up can not be an option.
Honesty is always the best way to go.
While on suboxone were you engaged in aftercare? Too many people think that suboxone is a wonder drug. they feel "great" until it is time to come off and that is where relapse happens. suboxone is NOT a wonder pill. It is an entire program that is designed to give you time in order to work on yourself and get your life back in order. suboxone is meant to be tapered. Didn't your prescribing physician discuss any of this with you?
So what will you do this time differently to prevent another relapse?
I've never heard of that medication. I'm also trying to quit vicodin....what is Suboxone?
Thank you for any help or suggestions. I never ever thought something could be so hard. I quit 17 years ago smoking cold turkey and I thought that was rough. But I did it and have never went back. But this is a darn nightmare!
I've been on them for about four years. But it got worse after several surgeries I had. I was severely obese and had a gastric bypass, lost over 250lbs. Then had skin removal surgeries....in the last three years. Been on pain pills for that and my insides are damaged a little from being 400lbs. So they were to manage my pain.
I wish I could take time back, I'd rather be in pain than to have started the pills. This is worse than any pain I have. Withdrawals....God Help Us All Through This.
Were or are you in a recovery program? Suboxone doesn't just cure you. It's ment to be a short term drug to help you get off other drugs well you work a recovery program.....or you'll just constantly relapse. Anyway no he shouldn't turn you away. You said you quit the suboxone so you weren't taking narcotics well on the subs. But you never know? Docs can surprise you.
Thank you. I was worried he would kick me out the program.
Happens to the best of us just suck it up talk to the doc and move on to that better time in life.
