Sorry about that, I was reading about injections and not the patch. I can admit when I am wrong. Please don't listen to my message above as it was wrong. I apologize. Thank you all for the correct info. on this.
No they aren't addictive....I have a bad back also....they do not affect the central nervous system and does not alter the mind. It is a local anesthetic and only affects the area of the patch. I have been using them for months on and off and can say with 100% confidence that they have 0 addictive properties. Be careful to only use as directed on the package (I guess that sounds weird because as addicts we NEVER take anything as directed!)
They have helped me a lot with my sciatica when it gets really painful (along with Ibuprofen of course!)
Good Luck!
I have never heard of them being addictive...lidocaine is a numbing agent when it is used on the skin....when given IV it can be used to treat heart rhythm disturbances...I guess if you put like 20 on it could affect your heart but addictive...i dont see how
Hi,I have been using them for awhile and I have a very addictive personality but I can take or leave the lidocaine patches. The amount involved is minuscule but I am not a doc so take what I have to say with a grain of salt.Best wishes,Kid
P.S. You are only suppose to use the amount given by Dr. and never leave on for more than 12 hours if that helps any.
It has a lot of possible side effects and can be addictive. It is suppose to stop the neurotransmittors that send pain signals to the brain. You should use caution when using it, and for more info. you can google it. There is a lot of info. on it. Best of luck to you.
