Ibuprofen overdose? Help.

I'm 15 5'3 and 95lbs. I took about 2900mg or ibuprofen in one dose? What is going to happen. It's not a suicide attempt I just want to sleep.

Look doll, what you did, was plain wrong. The "night time" crap in those things isn't what is going to hurt you, it's the ibuprofen. It can do serious serious damage to your liver. Bad things, the sleep stuff will literally only make you sleep. You don't necessarily need to go to an ER unless that's what poison control says to do. Seriously though, and please don't take this the wrong way, but why on earth would you post this question asking for advice and if you had anything to worry about only to argue and justify why you're not going to take the advice given?  Trust me I'm sur everyone on here is 100% willing to help anytime, but don't just ask for advice to deny it after reading some things you don't necessarily like.

My bf just took over 10 ibuprofen pills of 600mg. He says that he doesn't feel bad just a little stomach pain. Now he's sleeping! Will something happen to him during the night?

I think u were trying to get high. Nobody takes all that to sleep. Unless u are dancing on the idea of killing Ur self. I am afraid to say u will prob be ok encased u are trying to harm Ur self. But I would tell someone what u did. Encased Ur little experiment goes real wrong at least a friend can get u help before u od and or die.

U are only 15 yrs old. U need to tell someone now... it wont produce immediate lethal effects it will cause ur liver to shut down and ur stomach to bleed. Please take the advise all of us r giving to u and get help!

Things don't have to happen immediately.  The dosage you took is enormous.  I was prescribed 2000 mg of ibuprofen a day (without the Benadryl in it) and I totally ruined my stomach.  You could have a stomach bleed, it can affect your liver and kidneys.  This is really serious.  Please at least call poison control before you fall asleep ... or call a parent or an adult you trust.

Hun, you will just fall asleep and stay asleep in an overdose situation.   Get HELP now.  Better to be safe than sorry.

It doesn't produce "immediate lethal effects". It will be slow and you will fall asleep.  There's another word for what you did. It's called an overdose.  If you really took that much Ibuprofen and Benadryl, and I assume you did, you need to call an ambulance.

I will tell someone, but I don't feel sick at all so I should be fine. I would've been sick right now if it would produce immediate lethal effects

The otc ibuprofinPM is around 200mg ibuprofin per dose and 50mg diphenhydramine, i use it often at that amount, scripted pills are available in 800mg ibuprofin doses per 8 hrs.  So you plumb took way to much.  somewhere around 700mg of diphenhydramine.

What, you took a handful, make the call!  Or poison control, number is on the bottle or google it ASAP

Sweetie, there is nothing that you can take that is "a night time formula" that would have that much Ibuprofen in a dose.  You shouldn't exceed the recommended dosage and if you took something that said it was a night time formula then you probably took something with diphenydramine in it.  What are the active ingredients on the bottle?  What strength per dose?  2900mg of Ibuprofen plus anything for sleep in not good.  You need to tell someone what you took before you go to sleep.

It's a night time formula, I got it to help me sleep. I took it about 30 minutes ago and I feel okay I'm just starting to get drowsy.

You need to tell your guardian/parent and been seen by a health practitioner.

You need to tell someone now.  Is there anyone at home with you?  Please get to a doctor or ER and make sure you tell them exactly what you took.  There are more appropriate drugs available to help induce sleep, both over the counter and by prescription.  Talk to an adult soon.  Please...  Post an update please.

Maria is right, get to an ER. You could do serious liver damage, but either way you're going to make your stomach bleed.  That's a lot of Ibuprofen.

Hi i would get urself to an er asap. Why would u take tht to try and sleep as it has nothing in it to make u sleep? Im not judging just a question to help figure out whats going on... do u have anyone at home to help u? Being u are only 15 id tell someone.  Ur liver could b damanged for tht much. I understand it is a very scary thing but u need to get help and fast. Please dont treat this lightly as u could get seriously hurt. Please update us on whats going on.
