My battle with Norcos

OK, here is the abbreviated version of the mess I’ve gotten myself into.

Throughout my life I have struggled with an addictive nature.  At times, that has carried over into the abuse of alcohol and pain medications.  A while back I had a 6-9 month run with Vicoprofen.  I stopped cold turkey and for days I literally thought I was going to jump out of my skin, but the bottom line is that I got through it.  My present situation involves the abuse of Hydrocodone (10/325 Norcos).

A few months ago I damaged some ribs.  The spasms were very painful.  The doctor prescribed Norcos .  Well, once again, I was off and running.  I’ve worked my way up to approximately 20 pills a day…my favorite dose are the 8 I take first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee.  I know that this is a dead-end street and I’ve got to come off the Norcos before my luck runs out.  Too much is at stake to risk getting caught and losing everything of value to me.

I have the time and resources to use the Thomas Recipe this time around.  I can get off work for a week and I have recently acquired 30 tablets of 10mg valium.  I bought all the remaining items at various drug stores.  It appears I’m ready to go…except for the remaining 300 Norco tabs I’ve got stashed away.  That equates to about 2 weeks more of available pain medication.  After that, my prescription runs out and the doctor says no more refills.  I’ll be done and I hope to get clean again.

Does anyone have experience with the Thomas Recipe in a situation like mine and can give me a day-to-day description of what to expect?   Any and all input/advice will be appreciated.

I'm 60 days CLEAN & I used a Modified Thomas Receipe (with out the Valium or Immodium) and found that it did help... I am still taking the vitamins.

Try the TR &/or the Amino Acid Protocal... cuz my theory is
"If you THINK it's helping.. then it IS"  (Placebo effect)

Push fluids.. too.. cus it helps to detoxify your body...
Eat lite healthy meals
Exercise enough to break a little sweat... that also helps in cleansing your body
L-Tyrosine may help you with your mood and energy level.. it did me

And.. last but not least.. KEEP POSTING as this site is a LIFE SAVER for many...

We're ALL out here to help you in any way that we can and KNOW that this is a SAFE PLACE TO BE!

Hugs and Prayers your way

are you able to do a taper at all? I mean, I know you have enough pills to do so, but are  you capable of controlling yourself at all? I never could taper, i just ate them all up as fast as i could til they were just gone and then suffer the WDs.  But you would be doing yourself a huge favor if you could manage a taper since you are on such a high dose. Your WD may be pretty severe if you jump off CT at that dose. I would suggest a taper if at all possible to lessen the severity of the WDs.  Good luck and keep reading and posting here. as for the thomas recipe, I never used it, but I did take other vitamins and have been on xanax forever so I didnt really feel i needed the thomas recipe. It has helped a lot of people here though. The only thing I would add is make sure you have plenty of Immodium or Pepto on hand cuz you will need it.
