hidden,
So glad you are excited about starting treatment!!! That's the big step, you have to want to be clean MORE than you want to get high. I thought about stopping a few months before I actually did. It's because even though I wanted to quit opiates, I still wanted to use more than I wanted to quit. I reached my turning point two weeks ago. I'm now 14 days clean of opiates & so glad I did this!! Good luck to you sweetie!! xoxo
Hi hidden,
I am glad that you are excited. That is a great sign that you want to get off of them once and for all. You and your counselor will come up with the plan that is best for you. Best of luck and please keep posting :)
Hi and welcome!! Your story is sooo similiar to mine. I too took FMLA from work and went to an Intensive outpatient program for 30days. My work only knows so much and they believe I was out because I had a nervous breakdown,,which I kinda did. This step that you are taking is HUGE. I am soo excited for you because in hindsight it was the BEST decision that I ever ever made in my life!! I too had a heavy perk addiction but I opted not to take any suboxene/ suboxone as I learned I eventually would have to wean off that and I just wanted it to be over,,I was sooo over it with these pills. You will find amazing support thru the counselor,,keep in mind you have to do you part in it too. It works if you work it!! I am excited for you and I just wanna hug ya and let you know its really going to be ok,,I promise. Get to that appointment tomm even if you have to drag yourself there (my brain tried to talk me outta going at the last minute). There are medications that can be prescibed to ease the withdrawal some like clonidine. I also was put on antidepressants because my brain chemistry was all askew and the meds really really evened me out,, I had underlying depression. Keep posting and let us know how tomm/today goes!! Sorry your first post wasnt answered,,that happens sometimes. :(( ((Hugs)) ~Bkitty
Its really positive thing finally getting some counselling, my bf has been put on suboxone for a 21/2year habit on heroin. He has been put on 16mg which i thought was high so queried it the doctor then said 8mg but bf panicked about dosages being halfed so agreed at 16mg. He is on day 8 clean, the subs have given him mildish side effects, inc headaches, some chills, and bad dreams. But hey he is managing to go to work and stay away from the devils that sold him that stuff. What i mean is he is able to try and get a stable life back.
I wish he would have done c/t but it wasnt right for him so I just support his clean days. He is also doing counselling once a week which i think is a major key to talk about issues you have for abusing meds.
This forum has helped me, help my bf soo much, as there is so much support and words of wisdom from people who fully understand what your going through.
Good luck and keep posting.
Hi Hidden,
Hey, it's awesome that you want to reclaim your life from the pills! Your attitude and strong desire to be well are your best weapons against addiction. Arming yourself with these and a strong support network, (which it sounds like you are building) will help you to get clean and STAY clean. I don't have any personal experience with suboxone, but I'm sure others will come and weigh in and share their experiences.
It's so important to surround yourself with as much support as possible. Being honest with your doctor, family, friends holds you accountable and sets you up for success. It is not a quick or easy journey, but it is worth it, and so are you! You say you've been around for awhile so you probably know the detox tools to help with the physical. Please keep posting and let us know what you need. Be proud of yourself, you are taking brave steps towards recovery. You can do this!
Sending support...

I think it's great that you will begin some type of counselling and I really hope you can stick with it. I am not a particular fan of using subs to come off of a Vic and perc addiction. I just think that's too much. To me it's like putting a huge bandage on a small scratch. It may help in end but it can be better treated other ways. I was using and abusing Oxys for a year everyday and up to 250mg a day by the end .... I stopped CT 7 weeks ago and I am thankful i did. You can donor as well! Believe me....I don't think tapering down off of percs is necessary or the right way. Go through the hellll for a few days and e done with that part of it. Just my opinion and I'd also like to say that whatever you and your counsellor decide I think you should stick with it and I wish you all the best! I hope you stock around here and post more often. Always room for one more....
