Inspiring Possitive Thoughts

I have made it through the worst of the Methadone and Hydro withdrawal finally but I am still a ways away from being normal.  I have made it past the desperate pleading stage and I wanted to thank all of you for your support during my whinney time.  I am going to make it a point to help people with methadone and opiate withdrawal in general.  I have gone through this process many many times and once my head clears a bit I see how committed I was to the "staying high" process.  I am getting a lot of satisfaction by helping others stay away or treat methadone addiction.  I have been a long time opiate abuser and luckily and off and on methadone user and only recently full time methadone addict.  This detox has been my worst yet but I find it humbling to submit to the recovery process and admit that I am powerless over this drug.  It is difficult for me to admit this but it helps me stay committed to being sober.  I cannot say enough how important this forum is and was to me and I plan on sticking around for a long time.  I have neither the time nor the ability to go to meetings with my hectic life so I use this forum as aftercare.  I apologize for rambling but I just wanted to say thank you to everyone here that has replied to my postings and hopefully together we can all make it to the other side.....God Bless!

Right on man.....You are right in the thick of it right now....Soon you will ask yourself "Can I Actually Make It Through This"  and the answer is yes....Depending on your level of use will dictate the length of your withdrawal.  Below is a website that I found that really helped me.  I cannot say enough about using suppliments throughout the recovery process.  The site is for methadone users but the regiment of daily suppliments are good for all opiate withdrawal symptoms.  It is expensive and difficult to purchase and take everything that is on the list but I can truly say that it will cut your detox time in half along with allow you to function better during withdrawal.  My problem with previous withdrawals is that I stop taking the suppliments the minute I start to feel normal.  According to my research you need to keep taking the suppliments well into the 6th and 7th month and longer if you were or are a long time abuser.  PAW'S is where a lot of people relapse and where I relapsed many times.  I along with many people think that once they feel better they are done......Very wrong.....it takes months and months to completely heal.....Good luck and God bless!!!

Hey, I just thought of something as I read this.  One of the ten thousand times I was in treatment, I heard a therapist say that if we would be willing to put even half of the energy into staying clean as we did in staying high, we might just be able to do it!  At the time I thought she was a complete "rehab godzilla" but now I see that she was absolutely right!

I'm proud of you!!!!!!!!!!!!! : )
