Hey I say toss the pills and go back and get a second opinion from another dr. that can and will put you on some type of NON narcotic pain reliever, I think you yourself would tell us to say no and to find another way, so listen to your own thoughts and flush them evil things. I wish you the best!!!!
Are u looking for confirmation to keep using coolio?....dont know and u may need to call me crazy....if u were an addict...for real addict...u wont be able to do this long term.....and if she is gonna taper u off and u think that u can do this...maybe it is a plan....but u need to reach deep down inside and ask urself "DO i want to quit?" really want to quit......please dont take mwe wrong as i did not meant to be ugly...i want what is best for u...u just need to be honest with urself or u will be fighting a losing battle
u know what i've discovered since seeking help for my oxy addiction? Is that normal physicians (that is docs that arent in the addciton area) really dont have a clue. The doctor should have at least suggested taking u off narcotics or at least taper u down. Painkillers are such a ***** to the body. No doubt swallowing them is better than snorting. But when it all comes down to it its all addictive. I have a friend who was addicted to oxycontin a couple of years ago. (he was never prescribed it, he got it off the streets) he finnally went to see a doctor seeking some sort of help and the doctor prescribed him more oxycontin!! All it did was make it easier for him to abuse. Jeeez. In my search for help with my addiction the medical community has been of minimal help. this forum has been the best support yet. I'm not sure if i've help at all.....lol....ive kinda babbled. Just wanted to share my take on it. Best of luck hun.
Personally I do not think your doctor did you a favor especially if you were honest with him about your past usage. You have said in previous posts that you have access to dealers and I think he kind of falls into that category. I know alot of people will not agree with me and that is fine but I wish you hte best. Tapering has never worked for me. An addict is an addict is an addict............Good luck to you!
I just started taking them last Tuesday....The doctor put on there to take 4 a day...I am doing that.....then i think he going to help me taper.....Remeber the reason i went to him was for help (non-narcotic) due to the horrible LYMES pain....I also told him about the 3 months that i had stopped and about the addiction problem.....and his answer was to get back on them and to taper correctly.....Maybe he is right....
Of course i went ahead and followed the orders...LOL.......I know thats a cop out....
It might be wiser, giving your background, to see what kind of non-narcotic help is out there. If this was one of us asking. What would you tell us?
Hey Coolie Babe,
The main question, is "how long have you been taking the percocets? WoW, I didn't even realize that percocets came in anything other than 5 mg. I am sure there will be more to jump in shortly who can offer you an answer.
Hugs
Susan
OK let say you are taking 15 mg just as the doctor says ..perhaps every 4 to 6 hours ..for a few months everyday yes you will have withdrawl .I never took more then what was prescribed of hydro .My with drawls were just as bad ...Now I took more then prescribed of tramadol but that is a different story. How long do you think you can take it just as the doc prescribed without abusing ?
I guess it depends on how many you take a day..you know that pain killers are addicting and even taken as precribed you will have some degree of withdrawal..how many a day? for how long?...
