It seems like no one cares

My current addictions are Xanax, Zoloft, Trazadone, and Diet pills. When I don't take any of these I turn to food, well and sometimes on the Trazadone I get the munchies and binge eat.

Is there such a thing as addictive personality? If so, what's the remedy? Since I was in my teens it seems like I have been addicted to something; cigarettes(9yrs), pot(3yrs), meth(1yr), alcohol(10yrs), coke(1yr), ecstasy(3mo) ......luckily, I have quit all of these (with the exception of, I drank and smoked cigarettes for the 1st time in a year 4 days ago, haven't since then though) Anyway, it seems my new addiction is food. Not so much just eating it, I obsess about my weight. I am very overweight, in my opinion, and it consumes my thoughts, just like alcohol use to. It sounds crazy, but how can I quit this cold turkey? I cant imagine trying to change the way I think about this. If I were to finally be at my goal weight, then what am I going to move on to? Will I live the rest of my life addicted to something?

There really is no such thing as an addictive personality. To believe this would be to indicate that addiction is a personality disorder. It is not. There is such a thing as addictive behavior which got most of us here in the first place. But even that takes place over time and is learned through the active practice of addiction. Just wanted to clarify for some of you. The good news is that it's much easier to break bad behavior patters than it is to change your personality.

Best of luck to you all and God Bless.

Jacky

How about exercise?  I have the same kind of addictive personality.  When I was in Iraq alcohol and pain pills were non-existent, so like you I had to turn to something else.  I started exercising like mad and channeled all my energy into that.  I was addicted to fitness.  If I missed a day I would feel guilty and would obsess about it.  So I guess my point is, is that we can use our addictive personalities in our favor and turn it into something positive and healthy.  Better to obsess over exercise and eating well then to the things that harm us like pills and booze.

You need to slowly wean yourself off of these .

Zanax basically increases your anxiety in the long run.Trazadone eventually makes you where you can't sleep without it.Zoloft does weird things to your brain and Hydroxycut should be taken off the market/its similar to speed.

Pray for deliverance , Go to church.Go to meetings(NA) (AA) whatever
God has a plan for your life and It doesn't include the prison of addiction.
Find some kind of hobby.

I tried going to AA meetings once a while back when I had a bad drinking problem, but the people there made me feel like I didnt really have a problem cause I wasnt homeless and dying from the disease yet. Hopefully its the paranoia from my PTSD thats making me feel this way again here. Maybe I feel like Im being whiny because I worked in the medical field for a little while and all I did 12hrs a day was listen to patients complain about themselves, so I feel bad for sharing my own symptoms and problems with anyone.

I take any where from 50-150mg of Trazadone for sleep. 0.5-6mg Xanax a day x 3-7 days a week. 3-6 Hydroxycut Hardcore daily. 100mg Zoloft daily.

Addiction is the covering of feelings with the abuse and obsession of anything that makes you forget those feelings. It can be gambling, sex, food, drugs...almost everything. You have a few options..get into therapy, meetings..anything to get to the root of the problem. It usually stems from self esteem issues from childhood.

How much are you taking per day of each? I am not familiar with trazadone, so I can't really help you there. I think depending on how much you are taking of the xanax, you might need to taper off of it. I think diet pills can be stopped cold turkey. I'm sure someone will weigh in on that. But the biggest thing is YOU deciding you have had enough. Once you do that, you can make a plan with the help of others and stick to it.

Maybe not the Zoloft, but definitely the rest. I feel like I am constantly trying to balance myself out with another pill (diet pill to wake up in morning>>>Xanax cause Im too hyper>>>vise-versa and pills to sleep at night). When I can't afford to take a "may cause drowsiness" pill, like when I have to drive or am with my daughter, I over-eat instead. I don't know what to do.

I'm a little confused...what are you trying to quit? The pills or the food, or the weight obsession? All are quitable in my opinion. You need a plan! Have you come up with one?

You are definitely in the right forum. It does tend to slow downs on weekends though. You will get plenty of support. So I'll have to agree with the impatient thing and not the wrong forum!!..lol..just kidding.
As for a cure, there is no cure for addiction be we can put it in to remission. From what you said I think an addiction therapist would be your best bet. They can help get to the root cause of everything. Also any kind of meeting you can get to such as NA/AA would be very beneficial. The more aftercare you get, the better chance you will have to put your addictions in remission.
So please stick around and you will get plenty of responses. I'm sure some will come this weekend but most will come Monday or so.
Best of luck to you.
