Welcome back, glad your tax time is over with. I totally agree with udochoices, it seems like you make it through the physcial part of wds and then after 28 days of being clean and proud the mental part sets in, I know I can take just one and get through this night WRONG one leads to two. So watch week 3 and 4 thats when your mind and body starts playing tricks on you. I know (I think) that I have finally have made it, day 36  and yes I had a few set backs  but you won't, just do it. I have faith in you, good luck and prayers to you.

Your mind plays a big part in it too.. If you expect the worst you often will get it.. Follow all the suggestions people gave you, stay positive- remember this too shall pass.. And work on not having to go through it again.

Too many people worry about the detox and fear of the physical symptoms which honestly is the easy part- the mental battle once you get clean and realize it wasn't as bad as you thought in your mind often leads to relapse as you realize you can handle the detox and didn't die in the process. This is the danger point.. And why aftercare and getting to the root of why you used in the first place is so important

HI withdrawals are different for everyone some people start to feel it in 6 hrs most in 12hr I believe acute withdrawals start 12hr after your last pill peak about 6 to 8 hr later then its just the lack of sleep rls anxiety that all add up to make you feel worst....for most its a 4 day deal with day 5 coming out of it......some symptoms will linger around like the RLS and lack of sleep
the real battle lyes in the mind.....I truly believe this is a battle one or lost in one own mind
hook up with some aftercare to avoid this pitfall.....hang in there your off to a great start
its all about attitude good luck and God bless.......Gnarly

I think it probably depends on how high your dose was and how long u were on it, as too how bad the wd might be......For me, it was very hard to do normal things the first few days....I am starting day 3 now and earlier today I had to go to the store and it was almost too much so I did break down and take a half of a 5 mg, but  I am not going to do it anymore as I dont have to go out for the next few days....My first attempt at wd I couldnt do much of anything for the first 4 days....This time seems a little easier for some reason, but of course I still feel like total crap

For me, the first 3 days seem to be the worst, and this is my 3rd time trying and for some reason it seems easier than the other times....I still feel horrible, but not as unable to function as much as the first time.....I can start to feel withdrawls very early, somtimes only 6 hrs after I havent taken a pill....How high was your dosage each day?

I like your frame of mind right now.....I am convinced that attitude plays a key role in detox....Day 1 for me was never super bad....usually days 2-3-4 are the worst.  The nice thing is that getting through those days are the toughest part of the physical stuff.  Wholeneworld had a really good post about what to expect and you having gone through it will remember.  I am a huge advocate for the protein mix, vitamins, and supplements along with exercise the minute you can force yourself off the couch!  You get out of detox, what you put into it.....I too did not have a horrible detox this last go around....I jumped CT off of a 120-180 mg per day hydro habbit.  Each day I was definitely miserable but I have had a lot worse.  The true challenge in my mind of detox is days 12-30.  For me, now working on 5 weeks sober, those days were the toughest for me.....Getting past the initial first week of detox is rough but it goes by fairly quickly, especially if you are sticking to your regiment of diet and exercise....Days 12-30 are tough because all of the physical effects are basically gone but your sleep, energy, and motivation is still not 100%....This is the time where most relapse.  They are sick and tired of being sick and tired....If you power through it and get to that month mark you will be basically out of the woods.....I came down with a nasty cold that took me down for two weeks during my second week of detox so I had a hard go.....Now that I am at that month mark and feeling better from the cold I am night and day better!  Energy is around 92%....Motivation....90%......Over all happiness....100%....You have been sober for long stretches so you know what life is like on the other side of this addiction....The rough stuff won't last long and you will quickly be well on your way to feeling normal again!  Hang in there....Good luck and God bless!

Focus on what you are going to do differently this time so you dont use again and go through this all over again.. Using pills is just a symptom of a bigger problem inside of us we are trying to self-medicate away.. Counseling, 12-step meetings, etc will help you stick with it.

Exercise will cut recovery time significantly by making natural endorphins. Just a walk around the block even though u feel terrible will help..

It takes about 72 hours for the opiates to get out of your system. So,during that time the withdrawals may increase.  It just depends on what your brain is demanding. I wouldn't get cozy just yet,you know?  But,certainly it's great that you're handling things. Your mental attitude is everything during this process and the fact that you're not stressed at home makes a huge difference,I think!

Keep up with your fluids and keep in touch!

First off thanks. I am not sure if I am safe to say this yet but nothing is near as bad as it has been in the past detox's. I know it may be early to say that but it makes a huge difference having my spouse to actually help me with the kids.. He let me sleep pretty much all day yesterday and he got up and took the kids to school. I feel like just knowing that i have "help" at home now takes the edge off. Dont get me wrong I dont feel great by any means but I am so determined to end it once and for all. Do you feel that i may be jumping the gun here??.. Last time i couldnt even move. Not so right now??

Okay, so you are not at 24 hours yet. Still, the withdrawal seems mild. Count yourself lucky hun...really! You may, or may not, feel a tad bit worse tomorrow and the next day but don't focus on that. Focus on today and keep a good attitude.

Hang in there---you are doing great!!

For me, and many others it seems, Days 3-4 are when the acute physical withdrawals will peak. They'll begin to ebb by day 5 and should be on the way out by days 6-7. Sleeplessness, fatigue, anxiety, and depression last a bit longer, usually. I've gone through withdrawls several times in the past 5 years and find that, depending on how much and for how long I was abusing, the mental side of the house takes from between 2-4 weeks to clear.

You mentioned that this is your 3rd attempt at detox? If so, I have found that with each detox, it's takes me longer and longer to recover. I don't know if this is usual but I keep a journal to document my progress. My first detox showed that i was feeling reasonably normal again by day7. My most recent one, however, saw my depression reaching well past 30 days.

You're doing the right thing, though. Try not to look too far down the road. It won't help at all. All you have to worry about is today. GL
