Klonidine for recovery?

Howdy-
I'm on day13 without any vicodin/opiates. I had conquered a tramadol habit back in 07' only to replace it with a heavy addiction to vicodin. 8-10/day (.500's) (something I had abused for many years prior)

Obviously the first week sucked- I knew it, expected it, dreaded it and withstood it. By day 5-7 I started feeling really good. By day 10, I crashed. This past weekend was horrible. Dreadful depression, and no energy. I had been prescribed klonidine for the anxiety. I took them at night mostly, but also during the day at the worst times. They have been great. I still don't think I am ready to stop them completely, but don't want to become addicted to them.

Obviously I'm an addict. I lack the control to know when enough is enough, however I'm only taking these when I'm at the breaking point or just before bed. I don't care for them or their effects, I only use them as prescribed. I'm afraid of stopping them today due to my anxiety and depression without them. Is it uncommon to need to take them for 3-4-5 weeks after quitting opiates?

i am a 35 yr old mother of 2. one is 5 yrs old and the other is 5 mos. I went thru a very bad divorce right after my first daughter was born and became extremely depressed. i started to hang with a bad crowd and b4 i knew it i had a very bad methadone addiction. This girl was giving it to me daily(for about 3 months) saying it would help with depression. lo and behold i got sick once the meds ran out and had no way of caring for my girls. she had me go to a methadone clinic and they put me on it. (w/out even doing a drug screen) Now it is 5 yrs later and i've been trying so hard to detox and it seems to not be working. i recently transferred to a more reputable clinic and even if i go down 2 or 3 milligrams i feel it. it's so hard due to having the newborn baby and all of the stress.  Somedays i just don't even want to live anymore becuz i hate how i feel.  my body aches everyday. i get the cold sweats on a daily basis and the methadone does not last a full 24 hrs so after about 16 hrs i am in awful pain. i need help now b4 it's too late. i hate my life now and i just want to be myself again.

clonidine can also be used for anxiety, i recently found this out because my friends son who is in our aspers group, just got put on clonidine for autism induced anxiety, i even looked into it for my son
but i am not sure about putting him on bp meds, he's so little
i am trying non-medicinal methods for anxiety
he gets massages, takes long baths, when we do homework i light an aroma therapy candle, i am looking into kid friendly meditation, i know sounds silly, but i had to do something

Klonopin is for anxiety.

Clonidine is for Blood Pressure.

Clonidine is good for the first few days of detox to help with withdrawals.

Klonopin.  Be VERY careful.  They're very addictive.

just come off the blood pressure meds slowly (clonidone)
you will do just fine
if you continue to be depressed try na or ea
that really helps
feel better soon

That's embarrassing. It's clonidine. I knew that too! What a tool. My doc told me he was giving me that. (He presrcibed me that and lorazapam, about a month ago as I planned on quitting over Christmas weekend, but thought better of it  (my son doesn't deserve his super-dad to be experiencing wd's while opeing presents) I waited until the New Year's little break so I had a few days away from work, but by waiting I forgot what he gave and why...such a dork!  I've had a few bad days in a row and I'm at work so I kind of freaked out and I posted my question with my pill bottles at home so I couldn't remember what exactly I was taking until your email rang a bell.

Thank you for straightening me out. I feel like such a spaz. .

Thanks again, I appreciate it. I think I have a handle on what exactly is going into my body now....for the most part.

Hi - first wow and congrats on conquering Tramado and Congrats Day 13!  Defintilely two wondeful accomplishments?  Do you mean Clonidine or Klonopin?  Klonopin I would be VERY careful of as it is a benzo and addicting (think valuim or xanax) and withdrawal can be dangerous.  I dont speak from experience as I never really used benzos but Ive read a lot on this forum about them.  If its Clonidine (which is a medication for blood pressure) I have heard really good things about it.  Its non addicting and if used properly can be a lifesaver during withdrawal.. didnt use it either, but again, Im relaying what I've heard.  People will be along with better information I am sure. But let us know if its Clonidine or Klonipin.  Good luck and take care!
