No, did not tell Urgent Care doctor about opiate detox. I have another tread about the "runs"; all responses encouraged me to seek medical advise because of the length of time having diarrhea. I feel a bit better about it after reading your posts. Coincidently, doctor ran Thyroid labs and the results came out hyperthyroid. Geeze Louise! Opiate detox may have triggered this as well. But will follow through with fecal test and hope things will come out as well as blood work. The upside is my thyroid medication will be adjusted and rechecked during the continuation of "off opiates". I am very uncomfortable as you know but hopefully with the thyroid adjustment, BRAT menu, and time, this too shall pass. Thank you for all you support. ❤
I agree completely with Debbie. Your doc seems to be doing all of this in depth assessment, trying to find a cause for the diarrhea, does she know about the opiate detox? That's a symptom that hangs around a while for a lot of people. Just make sure she's aware. It seems logical to wait a little before having invasive testing done, especially because that is a hugely common opiate detox symptom. It very well could be from that.
Best to you!
Hun the diarrhea is a withdrawal symptom from opiates. Continue to use immodium and eat foods that are binding. A brat diet. Bananas, rice, apples and toast.
Definitely should wait on the klonopin taper until you are stronger from the opiate detox.
I don't think you need to have a colonoscopy yet.
Does your doctor know you stopped taking opiates?
The runs can last awhile from detoxing.
Haven't gone to doctor for detox off Klonopin yet. Had to see PCP for continued diarrhea. She ran bloodwork; everything is good, I had started rehydration just in time (4 days ago) and my electrolytes came back normal range. Also, had Thyroid Panel tests as well, I have hypothyroid symptoms. I have Grave's Disease and had to have my thyroid ablated then supplementing with thyroxine. The diarrhea started when I started detox off opiates; now 19 days. Very sore bum. Imodium worked for 24 hours then the runs came back. Dr. gave me a fecal kit; five different tests to be done in the next five days. If that doesn't show anything; colonoscopy. Hopefully, it won't come to that. So........not good timing for detoxing the Klonopin until this episode ends. Thank you for listening to me. Had to tell someone. I now have 19 days!
How are you feeling now?? Did you get to the Dr? Come back where ever you are.As I had mentioned before I too came off the Klons. Be safe with this one.
Bless
Yes, I had to stop the taper. Went through some horrific w/d's. I have had the runs for 16 days. Asked advise and promptly sent hubby for supplies. Bought Imodium - miracle product! Kyle was right! Bought pedialyte Popsicles. Ate appropriately, to reduce cramping. It stopped! I started a fever 100.4; not too bad. Stayed in bed again. Headaches due to dehydration probably. Still sick feeling; maybe something else?
I cannot wait to start tapering off Klonopin! Looked up liquid. This would work perfect for detoxing. Not sure if doctor will prescribe. But, for now, I need to feel better. I am pretty sure I am hypothyroid now. I have Graves disease and had ablation so I sublimate with thyroxine but after 16 days of runs; doubt if it was absorbed properly.
Thank you for your question. Any advise you may have for me to prepare would surely be appreciated. ❤
Did you stop the Klonopin or stop the taper?
