Using a benzo to detox from opiates is very helpful. If you're on short acting opiates, hydrocodone, oxycodone, and hydromorphine, you can get through this in a week and feel 80% better on day 7 than you did on day 2. After this you'll see a steady improvement everyday. With longer acting drugs, methadone, suboxone, and time released forms of the aforementioned drugs, day 3 thru 10 suck mainly because of no sleep. In both cases benzodiazapines work wonders, if you can get your doctor to prescribe a high enough dose for the roughest part of the ride. A lot of doctors wont do this but if you can find one that has actually gone through detox...they understand. I've used a high dose and slowly tapered from that over a 2 week period and did great. I don't recommend trying to work and do this at the same time.
I had a klonopin only once month ago boy did it chill me out, but im the kinda person that would use them full time which worries me. Valium sometimes doesnt do much
Klonopin is a benzo...it does not have avery powerful onset like xanax but is just as strong as xanax...i was told that valium is a better choice for detox as far as addiction to the benzo goes...sounded odd as valium got such a bad reputation when it came out but it was one of the first to really hit the markdet and be prescribed alot....i researched it and found that it is true...valium is safer than the two mentioned above..all should be used with caution...i used it during detox and ..no it does not over ride detox..but it helps the anxiety associated with it...
