Looking for a lost poem on this Forum

There was a poem posted on here at the end of last year called   Fellow Addicts, Heres the Deal... And as I recall I think Road to Recovery posted and said it was being saved on the computer.  If so or if anyone remembers it could they please post it.   Thanks                  Zeuss

Thank you so much for finding and posting that. I realize I have so much more to learn about this whole addiction disease.  I wrote the poem and moved and never was able to get to my old email.    So sad to have gone through what I did to make it for months and then have to go through this again, after years  of using, after months of quitting. I pray for each and everyone of us in our daily struggles. Again thank you GTMI.   Zeuss

A similar thought from Scott Peck's The Road Less Traveled

"Life is a series of problems.
Do we want to moan about them or solve them?
Without discipline we can solve nothing."

"To be free people we must assume total responsibility for ourselves, but in doing so must possess the capacity to reject responsibility that is not truly ours. To be organized and efficient, to live wisely, we must daily delay gratification and keep an eye on the future; yet to live joyously we must also possess the capacity, when it is not destructive, to live in the present and act spontaneously."

"By attempting to avoid the responsibility for our own behavior, we are giving away our power to some other individual or organization. In this way, millions daily attempt to escape from freedom."

"If our lives are to be healthy and our spirits are to grow, we must be dedicated to the truth. For truth is reality. And the more clearly we see the reality of the world, the better equipped we are to deal with the world."

"Our view of reality is like a map with which to negotiate the terrain of life.  If the map is true and accurate, we will generally know where we are, and if we have decided where we want to go, we will generally know how to get there.

The more effort we make to appreciate and perceive reality, the larger and more accurate our maps will be. But many do not want to make this effort.

Some stop making it by the end of adolescence. Their maps are small and sketchy their views of the world narrow and misleading.

By the end of middle age most people have given up the effort. They feel certain that their maps are complete and their compass is correct.

Only a relative and fortunate few continue until the moment of death exploring the mystery of reality, ever enlarging and refining and redefining their understanding of the world and what is true.

But the biggest problem of map making is not that we have to start from scratch, but that if our maps are to be accurate we have to continually revise them. The world itself is constantly changing.

Fellow Addicts, heres the Deal
I lost a year to a Demon Pill
My brain said Son is this so wise
No sir I said, and thats a lie
So stop says he and heal your mind
But I dont think that thats too Kind
Again the brain said, Why Why Why
And I replied, I like the High
So keep on going, Now he said
Just one too many and youre Dead
Youre strong he says and full of grit
Smart, and strong and full of wit
I said, How will I ever cope
And he said son, you just have hope
I pondered what my brain told me
And told him, Ok we wil see
So one night just 9 days ago
I let my little demons go
I felt so sad, they were my friends
But life goes on, so here it ends
Day one, Night one, Chills Galore
Second day, Chills Ten times more
Day 2 and 3 and 4 my lord
King Arthur stabbed me with his sword
Day 3 and 4, they really sucked
With Getting hit by the Big Mack Truck
The Aches the Pains, the Foggy head
My poor poor legs, felt just like lead
But through the pain and watery eyes
I said its time for no more lies
He first said Taper and well see
And i said NO, CTs for me
But work you have and cannot miss
Ill persevere with an angels Kiss
Day one through 8, Now what is Sleep
I saw not one of Lil Bos Sheep
The clock just Ticked and Ticked and Ticked
And I said NO, I have this licked
Emotions running, sometimes cried
A full grown man with lots of pride
Tonight my friends , I have no clue
My eyelids may be shut with glue
But each dam hour that passes by
Is like a super Natural High
This battle has only just begun
But the War I know, it will be won
This is not Easy, by any Means
But it is better, so it seems
My brain said. Son youre doing great
Youre fighting this, you didnt wait
You jumped right in with tooth and nail
Just keep it up , You will prevail
And tell your friends who gave you hope
That you will help them pull there rope

All of you have been tremendous in helping me get through this. I cant name all the names, but you know who you are, Its 1,30 and I am going to lie down, but know that I admire and respect all of you, You have given me a wealth of Knowledge and compassion, that is unmatched, Im just on Day 9, and have a lifetime to go before the War is won.  Thank you all         JayDean
