What is your plan for your pain once you get off these?  Where do you get your pills?  Can you talk to your doc about this?  Are you abusing the Lortabs or are you just sick of being on pills for chronic pain?

There is a chronic pain forum on this site that you may find helpful as well.   I guess I'm a little confused as to whether you are abusing the Lortabs or that you just don't want to be on them.  If you are able to talk to your physician, he may be able to do several things for you.  One being that if you are abusing them and addicted, he may be able to give  you something that will make withdrawal a little more tolerable.  Two, he may have other things that are non addicting to treat your pain.

Best of luck and let us know what's going on with you.

Hey Ive been through it many time with all diff kinds of meds.....I think a lot of what happens is the anticipation of bad w/d symptoms , yes you do get some and they aint pleasent but just try to put your mind off thinking about it , I do it all the time ( stress over it) and it only seems to make it worse.....I think you can do it but look for help and suggestions here and online and deff talk to your doc , be up front with him , noboday has to do this alone!! just keep us posted

Hi!  What you do is....STOP THE PILLS before they ruin your life!  You just quit.  Plain and simple.  Go to an NA meeting and get some support.  That will help.  Stop going to the doctor....that would be in order if you ever want to really stop.

Hi~  Well,if you can't stop,I guess you can't taper off. That's okay.  You can just throw them away, cancel any refills and stop cold turkey.   Flu-like symptoms for a week.
Some insomnia and later on maybe depression.  The depression happens a lot and many get on an antidepressant prior to stopping the pills. It really helps.

Do you think you can do that?
