relapse after 8 days

Hello! this is a first time posting on here but I am in a very severe situation and need some good advice! my wife and i have recently become addicted to oxy-contin.... we have been doing anywhere from 40-160mg between two people a day for about a year and a half. 9 days ago, we decided to try and kick it on our own. it was really rough and had its ups and downs. we had made it eight days and could not make it any longer without losing everything! we couldnt function or do anything and we were always in pain, we didnt know what to do next, how to be normal again. my wife is a full time student and i am trying to get a job! today, i broke down and sold my big screen and purchased 10, 80s, are we screwed here? can we do these just to maintain only and if are careful, not get as bad and not get fully addicted again? our tolerance obviously has lowered. any advice? help, we have to turn things around now and cannot lose another day... i dont know what to do. thank you in advance

What happens when the 10 pills are gone and you are both back in full withdrawls ? You are eight days into this, man you guys are right there!

Did you already take them?

My advice to you is exaxctly the same as the reply submitted by Tramahater. NA is a great first step in the recovery process. You need a professionally managed receovery program.

I agree that you have screwed up but the big thing is it appears that you have hit bottom and realize that you need help. That is huge.

I send you a message with some additional information.

Please let me know if you have any further questions. Good luck with your recovery effort.

Hi,

Tramhater made a solid point but I'll add that if you had to sell something to get your meds, doesn't that really set you back?  Instead of moving forward, your actions are actually putting you closer to the bottom.  There are many of us on this forum who successfully quit taking meds. I won't sugar coat the stopping as you already experienced how bad it can be but there are ways to lessen the severity.  You have the 10 pills...why not try a tapering method instead of going ct?  Look at the Thomas Recipe and be careful about trying to get a job during the first two weeks off meds...your body can display physical symptoms of wds.

Keep Posting...we can help you...

Yes, to answer your question.  If you take them, you are screwed!  10 more will set you back after only 8 days.  I hate to be so blunt, but you did mess up!.. The important thing is that you want to get help and stop.  That is really all that matters.  Can you speak with a doctor?  You need some support too...like NA or some kind of 12 step meeting where there are people who understand you and will support you through this.

This is a life long thing.  8 days of trying won't get you there!  It takes patience like nothing you have ever done before, but you can totally do this!  Your life is worth making this change!!!!  : )

Good luck to both of you!
