Oxy Withdrawls @ Low Dosage

Hi.. I was wondering if anyone could please lend some advice or experience on the matter.  I use oxycontin after long days of work to help with my pain.  I never go more then a few days of continued use but I am having a hard time figuring out how many days u can/should go using Oxycontin before your experience withdrawl symptoms.  I usually snort 1/4 of an 80 per night.  Sometimes stopping after 2 days will leave me with bad chills, fever, ect.  other times I will have a tough week at work and use it tues-fri, and be fine for the weekend.

Can anyone share there best advice on how many days you should go before taking a break, and how long that break should be, as to not experience withdrawl.

Appologize if this doesn't come off as a serious question, and I appologize I admit to using this recreationally when so many of you are having problems with addiction.

Thank you so much

it's def. a scary thought for me to admit i wont do any oxy's ever again, being that they have been a part of my life for so long.  Truthfully reading about a lot of your stories kind of scares me about what could happen if i continue using.  This board really does help and I genuinely appreciate all your positive and truthful advice.  I will be checking back from time to time, thanks again all.

my addiction started when after my grandmother died and my grandpa brought over a box of pills for me to donate to the hospital. Well the hospital cant take things like this so i went through them and found 3 bottles of percocet 10/325 #300 each unopened. 4-5 bottles oxy 80mg 90 each. lets just say i was set for awhile. I started just like you say...i would use it to help with sleep, sore legs headache.....ect come on man 80mg of oxy for a headache give me a break. fast forward 4 years and i'm shooting up 20mg IV dilaudid at a time 4-6 times a day. Opiates are a very slippery slope that should not be messed with OlyAddict

Read my post, Husband 3rd day ct w/d's from oxy, that will give you some insight into what your looking at if you continue. It's a very hard and dangerous drug to take, believe me, i'm watching it's effects first hand, and it's not pretty! Soon, you will be going from 1/4, to ALOT MORE, then you will be in real trouble, as you see you are already experiencing. Please, don't continue the use, try to stop as soon as possible, read my posts, day by day you will see what my husband is going through from his oxy addiction.  Stay on here and post as well, everybody here is loving, supportive, compassionate, and they are here to help in any way they can, and trust me, their support goes a long way!!! You will see that you need it. If there is any way at all we can help, we are here for you!

after reading these and only giving it a few minutes thought, i know you are all right.  Truthfully i have been doing this a few days at a time in between breaks for a little over a year and was able to stop weeks at a time when I couldn't find any.  The joy and relief it would bring me after an unbearable day of labor kept me using but you are all right in the fact I am playing with fire and eventually it could slip away from me and turn into an everyday full-blown addiction.  Glad I came here to seek advice, i appreciate your help.

Please stop snorting them. Each tablet or capsule has very little of the actual drug you are taking. The rest of the tablet/capsule is fillers/etc to help the drug absorb in your stomach. When you snort or shoot the pills, the fillers go to your lungs and scar them permanently. What everyone else said about recreational use is correct. Soon you will be hooked.

I got to the point where I was "nibbling" a 40/day and quitting was (and in ways still is) tough.  As soon as you break them up and ingest them you're getting a full hit with no time release.  I would imagine that snorting would make it even more intense.

Let me put it this way.  Since you're worried enough about it to come on here and ask about the consequences then I'd suggest stopping sooner rather than later because it does not just "get better" on it's own somehow..

Peace.

Nobody here is judging but in my opinion the fact that you are "snorting" pain meds should tell you something.  Pain pills are to be taken orally not up the nose.  I too have to use Norcos for pain and take them as needed.  You are indeed playing with fire and getting the chills after should also be another indicator that you are probably addicted.

If you need the pills take them as you should.

using it any days is too many days.  i really dont have the answers to your specif questions, but i did want to let you know, you are playing a dangerous game.  i hope you wake up and stop the recreational use before you find its too late.  it will sneak up on you and usually by the time you figure out you have a problem it is a full blown addiction and completely in control of you.  good luck and keep reading the post here to get an idea of how the oxys will take over your life.
