Melatonin is safe to 10mg doses. 2-3 is recommended. I took 6-9 during that first week or 2. If you wake up groggy. Get into some bright light. Our body breaks down Melatonin with light.
BTW Melatonin is a naturally occurring substance produced by our bodies.
My Melatonin comes in 3 mg tablets. I was taking that and L-tryptophan to sleep. When I ran out of L-tryptophan, I took two 3 mg melatonins one night. The next night I went back to my 3 mg tablet. I don't think taking more is going to help you go back to sleep.
hhmm...if the bottle says take 1..then why take more? I don't know a drn thing about it, but I have heard good things. I am just bumping this back up in case anyone is around who is familiar with it.
