I am real sorry to hear this..Methadone w/d is very very difficult to go through. I went cold turkey off it I did not see things or hear voices, although is someone would have been watching me I looked like a lunatic. I rocked furiously back and forth for 2 weeks. I was awake fir 23 1/2 hrs a day to live through that he11. I did make it though and it has been 2 yrs. How long has your daughter been on methadone? She will have w/ds for at least 6 weeks .Hopefully the mental health facility can help her with that. I would say that it is definately possible for her to be having those things happen because of the intensity of w/d from methadone. Please keep us posted..
she has been on methadone about 1 1/2 years. thanks for your help
Everyone is very different in how their bodies can handle withdrawl from opiates. Methadone is the hardest drug to quit Ive ever come across, and with her high dosage and depending on how long shes been on methadone the withdrawls are very hard to cope with. Its very likely you could hear voices and hallucinations when abruptly stopped at her levels, I hope she is getting some good care at the health facility. Ive never been through that process, and I know alot of states, counties are different in how they deal with methadone(opiod)dependence when they are arrested. From my own experience methadone has been my own personal battle along with others, but the methadone was the costant and Im still in the process of beating it completely. I wish your daughter all the best, maybe she can get off of methadone, I dont know the situation but I can tell you its a hard one to kick. Congrats to all those outhere who have gotten off methadone however you got there. Best of luck with you and your family, I can tell you this is a wonderful place for support and information that so many can benifit from. Take Care!!!
for many people that is caused not from withdrawl but from sleep deprivation and the state of panic in your mind is going through as it knows what is coming.
What you have described is absolutly one of my biggest fears, I am on methadone and have been for a long time..it INFURIATES me that the jails will not give inmates a LEGAL perscription drug they are on. I cannot understand this and if I were you I would contact a lawyer and try to get some help for her..perhaps a transfer to a facility that does provide her dose. Being charged with a crime does not give our justice system the right to put us through what equates to torture, and we are suppose to be an advanced country! I know this is not what you asked, but this makes me so angry because I can imagine what she is going through. I wish you all the best..PLEASE keep us/me updated on her condition.
Here in Ft Worth Texas, if someone is on methadone with the clinic, and they go to jail, by LAW they still get thier Methadone. They just drop them down 5mg a day each day to zero, then cut you off. Someone can go through real hard times from Methadone withdrawals, that's not very humane to do to someone on 110mg a day for a year and a half. Oh and yes, someone could very easily have those kind of effects from Methadone withdrawals! And many many other symptoms as well. Please let us know how she is doing. I pray she gets good help where she is now.
