Today is day eight and except for low energy I am doing amazing. I am lying in bed contemplating getting up. I need my coffee. Lol. Yeah I sneeze a lot during the day but it's a reminder to me I am free of methadone. I am taking things one day at a time and doing things slow. I hear the coffee pot and can smell the coffee. Someone surprised me. I have been given a get out of jail card lol just had a sneezing attack. This methadone is a funny drug. I have to say I am so grateful I got off so easy this time. Other times I have tried it didn't go so well but I kept trying and I did it !!!!!!!! Thank you for all your support and kind words it means a lot to me. Will keep you updated.
Nice update mate, i had a easy detox , well according to most horror stories i read, my story isnt to much different then yours the highest i was on was 30 mgs and then to 20 and stayed there for a few years , i dropped from 20 down to 7.5 in about 3 months . I was ordering pizza on my 10 or so day. i kept a journal on here just as you did, i kept coming on and asking Gnarly when does the wds kick in really bad, before i knew it i was on day 17 or so, So happy for you , i know the feeling. Gnarly is correct about the energy crash, it was my 3rd week and i had to return to work, it was on of the hardest things in the world to do, but i pushed on , i did as he said started exercising and walking and it slowly all came back. ive been drinking protein shakes since that day, not only cause it helped out but im now a avid gym nut. Keep us updated man. You making through this one day at a time.
God Speed.
Wow! Your experience is encouraging. Ive been on methadone 6-7 months and got to 75. Realized it was not for me... memory loss, clinic every day, couldnt go out of town for fear i would go thru wd or my husband would find my bottles... easing down 5 mg a week. Im at 40 today... no issues yet... my stomach is talking, but that is it.
This clinic isnt great... not much support especially since i decided to come down and quit on my own..since i teach, im afraid of the energy crash and am going to try an anti depressant im the next few weeks to get ready for it.. my clinic only deals in 5 mgs, so that is when i will make the jump, i guess.... hope it is easy like urs. Gnarly has such great advice and is so knowlegable and supportive
Hi Kelcoo.....wow your making this look ez....well a big congrats to you your free from the vicegrip of this drug...over the years I have deffently seen a difference in those that took a long time tapering compared to rushing threw it.....you never know how it is going to be until you go threw it.....every once in a wile we get someone like you that seams to have beat the withdrawal....we call it a ''get out of jail free card'' im, so happy for you the ''energy crash'' can be debilitating on it own I recommend ''whey protein shakes'' you can get a 2lb can up at wallmart for less then 20.00 bucks just one scoop to a glass of milk...the chocolate flavor is good this is not a quick fix but rather the building blocks to recovery the raw protein helps a lot with the energy....and it also has a boat load of amino acids to heal the brain...keep posting for support and to help others....and take a minute to pray and thank God for this gift he has givin you....
