HELP! What is he snorting????

My SO of many years has been snorting something, am hoping those with experience can help me figure out what!  He will deny use, otherwise I'd just ask. I can't figure out if it's coke, pills, speed, so please, if anyone can give me some ideas; he has more energy, is more talkative, outgoing, sensitive/loving, more sexual interest. I know for certain he is using, however so far it's not affecting his job, nor is he agressive/angry, etc. with me. If it wasn't for the certainty of severe addiction I might like him better this way. Really, am so sad, feel like crying. I don't know what to do, no matter how hard I try can't bust him. I'm constantly on him to blow his nose, make comments about amount of tissues/tp etc. He does have allergies, but this is beyond that... He is also paranoid now, wearing seatbelt after years of refusing, oh, I could go on and on... if any of you would please share your experiences, I would so appreciate it!

Ok let me tell you what scares me here. So basicly even if he is snorting drungs which if I am correct my bet would be methaphamine you are not going to kick  him out you just want him to tell you the truth.Plz find some alnon meetings they will teach you about enabling a user .
whether right now he is only doing this 1 a week it will not stay that way it will take on a life of it own and there will be a very bad outcome plz check out a meeting also stay here and read  there are many loved ones of drug users here....

How do you know he's snorting? I snorted oxy for two years, and NEVER blew my nose... I used to scratch my face a lot at the beginning, & everyone would know when i was high because they'd call me scratchball - i'd be sitting there scratching the hell out of my nose and stomach/back. If he sleeps @ night - I doubt it'd be cocaine... You'd see weird sleep patterns (staying up for a whole 2 or 3 days, then sleeping all day for a day or 2). After a while, snorting oxy made me happy, energetic, motivated, all the good stuff I never really was before - but I realized I became dependant on it and needed it just to survive, so now I'm working hard at recovering. Any more info about how you know he snorts? any paraphernalia left around? ever find pills you don't recognize?

Thank you all for your input; I already confronted him once, and I don't think there is any way he'd admit to it.  I don't even know if he's doing it everyday, etc, however I DO KNOW it becomes a MAJOR addiction and life long problem very quickly, and I don't want to see him hurting himself and our family that way.  If he'd just talk to me, I'd be supportive.  It's not like I'd throw him out, and I believe ppl often start using because their hurting inside, but snorting (to me) is a sign of very bad things to come.  I really appreciate all of your comments; I have family members with alchohol & drug addictions and as much as I'd like to cover up my own feelings I've seen the havoc it wreaks on a person and their families.  Take good care of yourselves, and if anyone else would share the effects of different drugs I'd appreciate it! (I've googled my fingers sore, but can only find so much information).

i am a recovering addict and my drug of choice was oxy.  we would crush them and snort them.  with all opiates when you take too many, users find themselves very itchy.  so therefore if you see him scratching alot it could help you narrow down what he is using

IB is right it doesn't matter what he is abusing HE'S ABUSING. Also if he is trying to hide it from you he is probably not going to be honest with you about. That is the sad part of addiction we will keep telling ourselves that it is ok to use and we can stop at anytime. That couldn't be further from reality (normal reality anyway--whatever normal is). I hope you will confront him and maybe he can then see how it is affected not just him. Although the only person that can make him stop is him. I wisk you luck and will pray for both of you.

What does Scratching indicate?  A long long time ago I used to snort Cocaine, and 1 time I snorted some speed.  That was horrible.  In a way I'm lucky in that my body does not react at all well to drugs or alcohol.

I'm sure this is what has saved me from a more serious addiction than I had.

ChooChoo, I hope you find the answers you are seeking and that your SO and you  both get the help you need.

It is IMHO that the Partner of an Addict/Alcoholic needs as much help as the Person who is Addicted.

The whole thing can get complicated, especially if your trying to second guess what your partner is up to.  I agree, that most likely if you do confront him, he will lie, and will probably try to put it back on you and try to make you feel guilty for being suspicious of him.

It's important to set boundaries of what is and is not acceptable.  Addicts, and I can really only speak for myself, when I was very wrapped up in my using, would lie, even when faced with direct evidence.

I got very good at being evasive and telling half truths, but eventually, I just got tired of lieing and covering up my lies.  I used to think that no-body really knew, but everyone did, and the only person I was fooling was myself.

You can't cure him, but you can help yourself.

Hi,

Does it really matter what it is that he is snorting? The fact that is using illegal drugs should be a concern all in itself. Even if you find out what it is, then what?

I like quitin's idea to just confront him. That being said, be prepared that he will probably lie. We are good at that.

To be honest, my concern is for you. It is not easy to love an addict and until he admits that he has a problem and wants help, things will only get worse.

Please take care of yourself.

Why don't you just confront him and ask? What you are explaining could be a myriad of drugs, so it's hard to give you and answer to what he is snorting. Trying to "bust" him probably will not work as he has hidden it from you so far. So just ask him and explain that you love and are worried about him and his health.
