you know ? i'm aware of not taking any of this stuff in a couple of months ( let's say )...i know i can be become addicted to them and even water in excess can take you to the hospital..

I just wanted to say to be careful with valerian root because it has been found to work on the GABA receptor. It effects the central nervous system and acts and feels much like valum and is itself a mild setative, but nonetheless a sedative.
Herbs can be just as powerful and addicting as synthetics and valerian can defenitly be addicting.
I know I don't post here and don't know anyone and I don't mean any disrespect by hijacking this thread. But I just wanted to add that incase anyone wants to know and wanted to be careful using it.
Kava-Kava is stronger than Valarian and acts much the same way, like a benzo.

hahaha, that was funny, nauty ...it really smells terrible but the good thing for me is that it doesn't upset the stomach, i mean you don't remember you have taken them like it happens to me when i eat raw onion, i remember the whole day i've eaten the bloody onion.
tonight , i will try the infusion and tell you about it, worried.
OMG i'm dieing of laughter from your post! i know what you mean about that smell of valerian...does work, though. i've been takinga blend of sleep herbs and melatonin that i got form the Vitamin Shop and it really does help me relax.

I was looking for kava, and GNC told me you can't buy it anymore, that it was pulled off the market.....Im confused. Valerian is good, too, but it smells really bad. I threw it away cause i just didn't like it. Apparently I dropped one behind my night table. for weeks i kept getting drifts of a terrible odor while sitting in bed. Yes, I do often eat in bed so i thought maybe i left a dish or somethin somewhere .....tore the place apart and could find nothing......for a couple weeks the odor was getting stronger and started to smell like something died in my bedroom.....started pulling everything out digging for the dead rat that somehow snuck in my bedroom and died under my bed or something....well, i finally found the source....1 valerian capsule behind my night table on the floor did that much damage......Oiy!.....no valerian for me......the smell just repulses me.....i use tylenol pm or melatonin or both sometimes........

valerian root in a fresh form has a strong odor...kinda acrid but if it stinks it works! u can smaeel em when u open the bottle...guess i could gag down an infusion....didnt know about hat...good info

right, i'm taking valerian root for sleeping and they're working wonderful.Now I refuse anything with a hungover effect, i do not want this anymore, and valerian hasn't this effect as worried said : i sleep quite well and i wake up with a clear mind ( i love it) .
i feel anxiety, stress, etc, during the day but because my life is in a rollercoaster moment and i'm managing evrything by myself so i think that yes, it works also with stress and anxiety.
i've just bought valerian to make herbal infusion instead of powdered pills, but i'm not sure how it will taste ! hahah because the look is puagggg ( like small&black&irregular stones ) and considering pills smell strong, i can't really imagine a very tasteful infusion but i'll give it a try.

vlaerian root is great for anxiety and sleep....i prefer it for sleep over melatonin as melatonin gives me drogginess in the am..i have never tried valerian for anxiety druing the day..i know when i take it i night..i feel a sense of calm
i take a total of 6 Valerian root pills a day and they work great for me. i also take a vitamin B complex that helps with stress. i started taking these pills cause of my anxiety problems but they also made me not have the urge to smoke anymore...which is great.

Vlaerian root helps me sleep without the hangover effect that melatonin gives me....get a good brand..it should have a strong odor if it is fresh and for real...and it works...there are some mixtures of melatonin and valerian on the market but i have not tried those...good luck
