My Hubby said NO !! I Really Need Some help Quick

Hey Yall,
As most of you know this past month has been pretty rough for me. I was on methadone for 10 years got down to 50mg and just  quit,  I started taking SUBUTEX  3 weeks ago.  I told my husband that it was time for me to go back to my Subutex doc ( my appointment was Friday 3-19-10).  He asked me how much it was gonna cost for the visit and tho get the Subutex filled.  I told him $ 150.00 for the doc visit and $ 310.00  for the subutex ( Thats for the generic that I finally found)  He completely FREAKED OUT and told me I was Fu**ing Crazy if I thought he was gonna give me that much money for meds.  I honestly dont know what to do. Pretty much my only opinion is to detox off the Subutex as quick as i can I still have some left from my last doc visit. Please if anyone has been thru this, Tell me the best taper or detox .  Thanks & God Bless

Check your local health department for suboxene / subutex programs. You may have to be put on a waiting list but it's worth it. I've stretched my rx taking 1/2 even 1/4 pill and strip with no withdraw symptoms. I've even skipped doses in the past and felt fine. Unlike methadone and other opiates, withdraw is minimal. Not sure how far along in the pregnancy, but one could eadily confuse morning sickness, fatigue and nausea for withdraw. Make phone calls asap, find a program and steer clear of cash only Drs. You need therapy and support, not just a pill. Best of luck. Stay strong and positive. The mind is very powerful. You will get through this!

Hey,
Thanks for your reply.  The $ 310.00 is for 60 Generic Subutex.  The first time I got them filled I had to get name brand b-c I couldnt find any generic.  They were $ 550.00  for 60.  I paid 11 dollars a day for 10 years on methadone. I meant that 50mg was my last dose.  I had take homes and I would always take more than I was supposed too, also knew someone that was giving me bottles any time I wanted them.  It got really bad a couple of months before I quit I was taking  anywhere from 200mg - 400mg a day.  Had a scarey experiance on one of the 400mg days and decided it was time to quit.  I have been taking the Subutex for almost 4 weeks I really want to stop taking it but I am sooooo scared.  What would you do ???

Perhaps you can try and get it cheap somehow, then he maybe alot happier. You said you got to 50mg and just quit how long did you stay of that dose for?, or did you basically go straight to Subutex?, how much was your methadone for 10years?, why the sudden increase in price, seems crazy but congrats for giving up the Methadone.

Subutex can be used long term maintenance like methadone, but wow is that a months price? that's alot. It only cost me 2dollars donation a week

Isn't subutex supposed to be used very short term ?  

I didn't use it, but was of the opinion that it was a week or two and over ?

mawmaw that's her choice she needs to decided that with her doctor she is stating she her husband wont help her pay for her meds she is asking whether she should taper or detox i am letting her know there are other options the rest is between her and her doctor as would her taper plan be wen and if she choose to get off it  .

avisg, I'm wondering why you would advise her to get more Subutex instead of tapering. If downandout1003 wants to be completely drug free, that means she needs to completely get off any and all drugs, including Subutex. Getting more Subutex now just prolongs the time she is not drug free.

I would look into a program threw the makers of sub they a program if you qualify they pick up the cost .
