I just showed up to a closed meeting and was welcomed with open arms. Never did ask what that means but I will at the next meeting. Many of the people in my group need to be assured of confidentiality due to where they work, however confidentiality is a given with every group. You may want to try a few different meetings to find a group that is a good fit for you. Try to get a sponsor within the first couple meetings as they will be a great source of support for you. Meetings and my sponsor is what keeps me on track. There is no way I could do this on my own. Recovery is not a matter of willpower. It's a matter of learning to care again. Genuinely caring about ourselves and allowing others to come close to us is a process that starts when we surround ourselves with people who understand us. Keep us posted on how you are doing. Take care!

Yes, just go and listen. Sharing about how your feeling is always helpful because people can know what your going through and tell you how they relate! NA has saved me. I would be miserable if I didn't go...clean but miserable!

Pretty much. I know that in some communities, there are "closed" meetings (not sure what that means), women only, men only, smoking, under 21, etc. So, find and open group, smoking, non smoking, and show up. Simple, and a great idea.
