NEED SLEEP

Any ideas on getting to sleep, starting day 6 of sobriety?

Hi...once you get past the initial bad physical WD, you can try OTC stuff, but I would never suggest anything like Valium or any kind of benzo.  That's looking for trouble.  Try some Unisom.  It's slightly different than benadryl or tylenol pm.  It might help you.  Melatonin might help.  It did not help me in the beginning at all.  Valerian Root helps some people if mixed with melatonin.  Those are about the only things I know of!  Good luck!  Sleep is hard to come by for a while, but it will come back! : )

I am now off suboxone for 9 days now I weaned down frm 16mg to 8,6,4,2 then Hit W/D Real Badly(i was on them for over a Year) So I just Halfed the 2mg tablet and took 1/2 for 3 days Didnt see much point in dragging it out, My Wd where Real bad for 4,5 days More sickness, Toilet stuff ?? Sweats  and get shivers but my knees feel like they are being hit by a
Hammer. The worst thing is No Sleep its like a dvd stuck in my head replaying all the bad **** i went threw as a Herion Addict( for 13yrs) its causes so much depression, And all  im doing is crying, which is in no way Helping my Recovery, I Stay in Bed most Days, I just need some Sleep i watched a doc on utube who def knew what he was talking about as he ran a clinic his words"Most doc prescribe subs but have no idea how to get people off them or help with their W/D" this Guy suggested taking Tramadole 2 in the morning 2 @ 5,6pm and 2 B4 Bed, I was on Tramadole for years And stopped then with out any W/D so im taking them as i should be not swallowing tons of them, The doc Also Say You Should Be Taking Valium to get some Sleep as the lack of sleep causing depressing & can lead to suicide threw severe cases, but i know my doc wont give me valium from past addicting problems so i bought some myself and have been taking again 2 10mg in the morning 2 @ 5.6pm & 2 @ bed Time they worked and for me and i got to sleep for a few days ive cut down to none in the morning 2@ 5.6pm & 2@ bedtime. And was hoping to cut out the one @ 5.6 pm then eventually cut out the bed time one as i take Siezures coming off valium due to past problems with them im tying to do it right this time..But im back to getn No Sleep again sitting up to 4,30am waking up @ 6.30am tomorrow is my 10th day from subs  and i just dont know what else i can do my brain is fried,i take multi vitamins with iron and Vitamin B12 and try to eat what i can which aint a lot considering im 6 stone at the moment sorry for the
Long  story but i just had to get this put my head as im sitting in this flat on my own and have been since this detox started, Any Help would be Appreciated

Yeah, it can get a little psychadelic. I started losing track of days, and my friends where laughing about some of thing I would say, but I don't regret a thing. I'm glad I told everyone, because they would have thought I was on drugs if I hadn't, and then they wouldn't have laughed. You're so close, keep it up.

Think I sleep a hour or so not to sure really. It's been days.

I take one or two melatonin. The sleep is the worst part. Last night I actually slept 6 hours..amazing. Day eleven today. Try a short walk if possible in the morn and early eve...that has helped too plus the dog enjoys it. Hang in here and post post no matter what your head tells you. K-

benedry 2x  25 mg. tabs I sleep right through the night. (try one first)

I had to try a few things before I found the right thing for sleep. I tried something from the vitamin store called "knock out."  It's a combination on valarium root, melatonin and thyamine. It works well getting you to sleep. Still a little bit of an issue, but im averaging about 5.5 hours a day now. Plus a hot shower right before helped! Good luck my friend!

weaver is right...sleep seems elusive for many.  Benedryl works for some to help you get sleepy.  If you have not been getting outside for some sun time..give that a shot as well.

There's the natural choice, melatonin. There's Tylenol PM. I found that if I counted backward from 100 it helped. You may have to do it a couple times, but you will find yourself skipping numbers and eventually, you wake up. If I was just laying there for hours, I would walk around the block and try again. Sleep is a top complaint, it will return. Good luck.
