Fentanyl is a good drug to treat pain for terminally ill patients , or ppl who need 24 hour pain relief. But drs are passing this drug out to patients who don't need it or they keep increasing the dosage until its almost impossible to get off of it when the time comes. I know, it happened to me. Then wnen the dr was fired after I was on it for 5 yrs, I was basically screwed. I found out 2 days before my appt and couldn't get in anywhere else so I went tbru withdrawal from the fentanyl patch, 75mcg, every 48 hrs, and thought I was going to die the 1st 7 days. Every medication has pros n cons, but this one should only be given to cancer patients, or those in comparable pain.
Just sayin....drs need to think about our well being a lot more than they do and we should investigate, via the I-net, any meds they give us for side effects and possible withdrawals, when the time comes. You will become immune to fentanyl if taken long enough. I did. It's not worth passing away in your sleep because of the high dose they put you on. Hell, I've, totaled 2 new cars bc I fell asleep at the wheel, not to mention burning myself, bed, sofa, carpet, with cigarettes bc I would fall asleep on the 100 mcg.
It might be great for some....just not for me.
I joined and there is noone to answer my question?
