Need advice

Hi everyone. Some of you still active here would remember me. Or at least I hope you would. I had a cough syrup addiction (codeine based) which lasted for over a year. It’s been 90 days since I quit. I had been suffering from chronic insomnia and I visited a doctor on the 7th of this month and he put me on Fluoxetine (Prozac) and Olanzapine. I'd like your input on these drugs. For the first few days I felt pretty good. But again from the last 6 or 7 days I have started feeling weird. I am starting to feel the same thing I was feeling before I consulted this doctor. He told me I am suffering from depression and I believe the medication he is giving is for treating depression. But I feel what I am experiencing is an anxiety disorder. I have developed this guilt and fear. And most of the time I experience these thoughts coming back to my head about the abuse which are haunting me.

At times I feel my brain isn’t working properly. I have mentally dull. Everything seems unclear to me. My thoughts are unclear. I feel really weird at mind. Sometimes it’s so bad I feel I am going crazy. I feel as if my mind is half closed and half open. I would like to know what are these symptoms of? Anxiety or Depression? Like today I experienced these symptoms for the whole day.

Today and yest. I even got a series of panic attacks. I am going to visit him again tomorrow and I am thinking of asking him to prescribe Valium. But I am not sure.

Hi shadowknight,
the symptoms that you are experiencing are probably because of the medication you are getting, don't know about prozac but these are the classic side effects of oleanzapine.
When my parents first discovered about me using pot when I was 18, (they discovered because I had graduated to smoking heroin n that can't be hid easily) they took me to this psychiatrist who also prescribed the same drug oleanzapine for me, having taken it for about a year I am well versed with its effects.

the above effect is apathy (lack of emotion and or feelings), dizziness, sedation. These are some of the side effects of Oleanz, in fact it has been known to cause insomnia as well, you will also find out on oleanz's wiki page that it is used for "schizoprenia" or depression due to bipolar, for me, Apathy and weight gain were the worst side effects of Oleanz and given a choice I never want to take it again. This time when I quit the Cough syrups, I went to a different doctor who gave me something for the depression and anxiety but no anti psychotics or anything. I feel that some chemical help when you quit is neccessary to cope with the mood swings. Talk to your doctor about oleanz and be of off it as soon as possible, remember that you must not stop it on its own though, the dose needs to be tappered of, best of luck...
Check out the wikipedia page on oleanz for more info [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Olanzapine }
BTW, the one good effect of Oleanz is that it will block the high you get from drugs, no matter what you take [ even H's effects were blocked by this for me ]
