Need help on taper/pain

I've been trying to taper off 80mg oxycontin and 20mg oxycodone recently after four months of steady use, but I have found that when I don't take the full amount, my legs start hurting really bad again. Do I need to just stay on the pain meds or do I need to try to get off them and try to find some way to get rid of the back and leg pain? The pain meds are not working for as long as they used to and I hate to think about taking more, but the pain gets to me. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks!

Your tolerance has built. It happened to me too. Then i was extremely sick in the morning until i took oxy. I suggest speaking with your doctor. Do not let him put you on a higher dose. Acupuncture works for me. Best of luck... Keep us posted!

I talked to my doc and his definition of tapering was really different (high and fast) than what I have understood to be the right way to do it, low and slow. I tried to taper a little bit and the pain came back to be as bad as before I first started the medication. I was getting about two hours of relief and about 10 hours of pain/slight nausea sensation. Any ideas?

snowflakes right...  consult a doc for sure....

whats happening is normal...your tolerance is building to the medication....
it happens to all of us... 2 Vics used to make me feel good and remove pain,,,,then 3,,,,then  4,,,,,,then...you know the rest...

so before things get bad,,,do try an alternative...

stick around..for more replies.,..

you could ask your doc to help taper you down....then try alternative ways of helping with pain, acupuncture, medical marijuana, ect.
