Need help with getting off ambian!

I have been taking Ambian for a few years now.  I initially took it for sleep and now
I take it more often than I should.  My husband does not know my problem and I am so ashamed.  I have terrible mood swings and anxiety.  I guess my question is, how long will it take for my body to go back to normal after I stop taking these pills?   Will I not sleep for days at a time?  I am in a big hole and need help pulling myself out.

I have taken ambien off and on for 10 years or so and never have noticed a tolerence to it or any addiction to it...I just fall asleep after 15 minutes or so and I take a very small dose...like 2.5 mg or 1/2 of a 5 mg tablet...How much are you taking each day...I went to a lecture on ambien just not too long ago and a friend of mine said she abused it but had no trouble quitting ...no WDs...I do know not to ever drink with it because you will not remember anything

I took Ambien 4 about 6 months for insomnia and when I was withdrawing from Hydrocodone. I took it as prescribed but I know if taken for a period of time and more than prescribed it can be addictive as anything. You will probably have withdrawals from it like other drugs and not be able to sleep well for a week or so. Tell your doctor you have been on it too long and need to be switched to something else or want to get off of it all together. I just don't want to take anything other than an advil or occasional antibiotic when I'm sick. After being addictied for Hydro for so many years I want to be pill free
